They've re-issued titles in steelbooks in the past, right? I seem to recall that those earlier titles were the same discs just repackaged. But I'm hoping too that they take the opportunity to correct this. I'd make an exception and buy a steelbook for a change if the fix is in. It shouldn't be rocket science either.

I fully expect the They Live disc to be the same, but a number of their steelbook re-release were new masters (mostly the Corman titles, but a couple MGM titles also had new masters.)

Guy Ritchie's Wrath of Man is also going to be released on 4K.

OldPangYau just tweeted that he was involved in this Jackie set which definitely has me more interested in double dipping on a few of these titles.

A head's up about Scream Factory's new 4K edition of The Company of Wolves: I just received my copy, and the special features listed on the back of the case are all wrong. The case lists a new interview with producer Chris Brown and makeup artist Christopher Tucker, which is not actually on the disc. Meanwhile, it makes no mention of the new audio commentary featuring Brown, Micha Burgese and Kathryn Pogson; the interview with actress Georgia Slowe; or the interview with composer George Fenton, all of which I can confirm are on the disc. (For further reference, the special features listed on Scream Factory's website are all correct so far as I can tell. It's merely the back of the case that is not accurate. Either way, it caused me a fair bit of puzzlement upon opening up the set.)

Also, the interview with George Fenton seems to be audio-only, with still photos and scenes from the film playing under his comments. Actress Georgia Slowe appears on-camera for her interview.

Two surprise Shout Factory releases today: Abel Ferrara’s ‘R Xmas and J. Lee Thompson’s The Evil That Men Do. I’ve seen the Thompson as part of his retro at the New Beverly a few years ago. It’s Z-grade stuff helped by a few ostentacious moments, but not great. The later, sleazier cycle of 10 to Midnight, Murphy’s Law, and Kinjite are far more entertaining. Does anyone have thoughts on the Ferrara? He’s someone I’ve grown to love in the last few years, but haven’t made it through his filmography after The Funeral.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of ’R XMas when I completed his fiction work a few months back, but I know it has its fans and it’s certainly not a bad movie. In general, Ferrara’s 21st century output is heavily divisive, and while I can put together cases for why one might like or dislike his pre-2000 work, I struggle to find a way to apply logic to the last 20 years (though this is far more straightforward than all the obscure narratives he produced around it). That’s partially why I didn’t write up many of those viewings! Anyways, if we’re gonna do this thing, someone better put out Mary

Got excited for the Bronson film but noticed it’s a Shout Exclusive. Well, guess that’s it.

I noticed that R'Xmas is a StudioCanal license, and I can not understand why Shout bothered to license the film, just to dump it as a site exclusive.

Looks like The Magnificent Seven is going to be released by Shout. This is a bit surprising since it was rumored to be with Criterion for a long time. No word yet on if it's going to be a 4K UHD release, though I would be surprised if it was a Blu-only release.

EDIT: It is indeed a 4K release:

I can't understand it either but I'll certainly be getting it!

Like TWBB, it's Mary that I want most from the remaining Ferraras to be upgraded. And I'm surprised The Funeral hasn't been done by now.

I'm most surprised that one of the many labels interested in releasing grimy violent fare haven't scooped up the rights to prioritize a rerelease of Ms. 45

Ms. 45 is still with Drafthouse Films. That catalog was sold to a company called Giant Pictures, who have re-released some of the titles on Blu-ray. Having said that, they did license Miami Connection to Vinegar Syndrome, so I guess they might be open to licensing Ms. 45.

Yeah, I have to imagine that it'll come sooner or later from somebody- the way the market is favoring certain niches of genre, it just makes sense economically

Hopefully it gets the Vinegar Syndrome UHD treatment at some point, but if you are in need of an in-print edition of Ms. 45 then the French release is fine and can be had relatively cheaply.

Listings have been found for Shout releases of Iron Monkey and Zu: Warriors From the Magic Mountain. I'm going to have to skip the former since I already have the Eureka release but will happily pick up the latter (though I hope that they are able to add the 2001 remake that Tsui made).

A listing for a UHD release of Dragonheart has also been found

GIven Shout's disastrous first attempts at releasing Hong Kong titles, I figured they might be a little hesitant to dip back into dealing with Fortune Star.

Another UHD listing has been found. This time it's for a double-pack release of The Slumber Party Massacre and its sequel.

!!! I really love the sequel with its dayglo aesthetic but it's been OOP on blu-ray since before I discovered it and commanding huge prices on ebay. Should be great in HDR!

I wonder if there are some rights issues with Slumber Party Massacre 3? I can't see any other reason for it being omitted from a set with the first two movies.

I'm thankful it's omitted. A truly dreadful effort after the first two.

It is terrible, but it also was on Shout’s previous release. I assume they just didn’t want to bother with cleaning it up.

I live in France; what is the label which has released "Ms 45" in France ? Is the picture quality better than the Drafthouse Blu-Ray (which I had bought, and despite the average note at BR.com for the picture quality I was really satisfied with the transfer and the bonus were very interesting.) Since this is one of my favorite A.Ferrara movie (Nos Funérailles, King Of New York and Bad Lieutenant are among my favorites) and Zoe Lund looks like a young Nastassja Kinski and Jeanne Triplehorn - the perfect combinaison one could say  or I would hope for a UHD transfer- perhaps Arrow or the French editor Le Chat Qui Fume could think about releasing this movie in UHD ?
the Arrow X4 transfer of King Of New York was a significant upgrade (I had the US Blu-Ray first released)
