Are there any films left from that massive Kino DVD set of American Film Theatre productions to upgrade to Blu? Pretty incredible how those have (almost?) all made the leap by now

I think we've taken care of all 14 or will by September.

Hopefully this means releases of Butley and In Celebration are in the works.

Wait, does Kino own Zeitgeist now?

(And if so, when is Tony Buba's "Lightning Over Braddock" coming out?)

Any word yet on which version(s) of Hitchcock’s Murder! will be included on the Kino disc? There are at least two different English language cuts. One is longer and preferable but both would be a nice bonus. Also Mary (the Hitch directed simultaneous shot-for-shot German version) would be nice to have as well. I just hope we don’t end up with a barebones disc with only the short version of Murder!

It used to be reported that there were a few alternate versions of Rich and Strange too -- in the Truffaut book, Hitchcock describes an entire sequence that isn't in the picture -- but I've only ever seen one cut. Same with Murder!, actually, I wasn't even aware of different versions of the English version till recently. I agree that Mary would be a wonderful inclusion.

Owns or distributes for, forget which..think they own

Been wishing for awhile they'd be able to get more Guy Maddin on blu ray

We merged with them a couple of years ago. We now distribute all their titles, new and old.

No plans of releasing "Lightning Over Braddock" on disc.

We're looking into remastering the Guy Maddin films in HD and releasing them on Blu.

Blackmail release will include the silent version.

We also plan to include an UPRES version of Mary on the Murder disc.

Awesome. That's great news. Will the main feature for Murder! be the full 104 minute UK release (which was on the Lionsgate DVD box from several years ago) or the severely truncated 92 minute USA version? It would be great to have both (in addition to Mary) but if you're only releasing one, I hope it's the 104.

Regarding the back catalogue of Zeitgeist Films such as the Maddins any chance of blu-rays for the three Philippe Garrel films and Alain Cavalier’s Le Combat dans l’île?

Does that mean you have the early Peter Greenaway films and, if so, any plans for blu-rays?

Does Criterion ever license out their commentaries to other labels? The legendary commentary from the Blackmail laserdisc given by the original screenwriter would be a wonderful inclusion.

Well dang. But it's nice to FINALLY see a US company doing justice to the early Hitchcock titles.

Will Blackmail include the infamous screen test?

That's a travesty. I saw it a couple years ago and it's a timely, hilarious, unclassifiable masterpiece that could find a new audiences.

We asked to license some of their previously produced extras, but they said no.

You can email Zeitgeist directly. They love the film, but don't think it needs to be released on DVD.

Edit: We just spoke to them, we may release it on DVD and include the shorts.

Most likely the 104 minutes, it is the BFI restoration. And we got the master from SC as LG did for their DVD set.
