On the other had, I just noticed that Paper Moon has been re-released by Paramount.

Looks like Anchor Bay lost the rights to the New World Pictures library. All the titles were discontinued in the last week or so according to MMM. There are some good cult titles in that library like Heathers, Hellraiser, etc. I'm sure another distributor like Image or MPI will snatch the rights up in the near future.

Warners discontinued Cabaret and Performance.

It's not back in print. It's just an old copy available from a seller and fulfilled by Amazon.

No, it looks like Amazon suddenly has several Paramount titles available...but at insane prices. Maybe they were sitting on a stockpile waiting for the day they could cash-in. That's just wrong. ](*,)

Yes, and if you actually click on the pages, you will see that most of these are all available through other sellers and being fullfilled by Amazon. The few OOP titles that I see that are actually available directly from Amazon (The Court Jester, Chinatown Special Collector's Edition, The Out-of-Towners) are being sold at reasonable prices.

It looks like a lot of OOP titles (Paramount or otherwise) are now automatically listed as being available from a seller fulfilled by Amazon. Is this new? It seems like in the past you'd have to go through all the new/used copies individually, whereas suddenly in the last few days the lowest priced new copy from an Amazon-approved seller is just listed as the default. This is the case with DVD's that aren't even OOP, as well.

God it's obnoxious, like every fucking DVD is coming up with the marketplace prices. Which wouldn't be a big deal except a lot of these sellers are claiming UPC barcode-cut items are "new" and when I think I'm buying from Amazon, I expect it to come from Amazon

Damn, that explains a whole lot. I just got scammed with a Korean knockoff of the Image Three Songs for Lenin disc through this bullshit.

It's a deal you can make with Amazon if you're fulfilled by them, it doesn't happen automatically. It's been happening with videogames for a long time.

Anything fulfilled by Amazon, the complaints are handled by Amazon and not by the seller- and Amazon gives you your money back at the drop of a hat when you bitch.

It's also available in the massive Billy Wilder box that has most of his MGM stuff. Considering how WBhas been updating some of their catalouge I'm sure that items like The Bad and the Beautiful and simply going to get a new packaging. It is weird that they're getting rid of the Blus of a few older titles too though.

There is some reason to believe that Criterion has recently licensed yet another large block of MGM titles. This would be a new package, separate from the block of 25 or so that have mostly been released, leaked, or semi-announced. I would not be at all surprised to find that the four titles listed above are all coming from Criterion.

Top two of the quoted quartet are easily available in those new MGM value packs, so I wouldn't count on it

I could definitely see Saturday Night/Sunday Morning and Scanners in the collection. If not, the RB Blu-ray of Saturday Night certainly seems worthy.

According to the most recent update at MMM, New Line's Harold Lloyd boxset has been discontinued. I think the rights are owned by Lloyd's estate, so if New Line has indeed lost the rights, I think it's very likely Criterion will go after these titles.

A bunch of New Line titles just went OOP, I'm not sure it has anything to do with one rights holder

I am feeling I am running up a hill at the moment with all those titles going OOP.
