Why is
Vice listed as a comedy/musical?
Because it's a comedy.

It's been weeks since I viewed the trailer, but I did not get that impression for some reason (is
The Big Short also considered a comedy?). Thanks.

If Wikipedia is an acceptable source, both films are classified as comedies, yes

The Academy has given Hart an ultimatum to apologize for homophobic jokes from 2009 and 2010 or they'll find another host, Hart has refused stating that he has already addressed this multiple times
I'm not at all condoning anything he said in those tweets, but in a society where integrity and sincerity are in short supply, he seems to have a ton of it. He's being asked to dance for a thankless, volunteer job and is refusing to. It's James Gunn all over again. Good for him for not even entertaining this.

Well, that didn't take long:
Optics, baby!

I can’t say I’ve followed his career all that closely, but I don’t recall a time where he’s addressed it in the past... I guess this will do for the next time it’s brought up?

And just like that, How rude!’s money is back in play. If only it wasn’t on a woman who has zero chance of ever being considered under any circumstances.

Here, from 2015, didn't take much digging

That hardly constitutes an apology...I guess we just weren’t so sensitive back then.

The jokes were pretty grim and unfunny, but is the guy just not supposed to work now because of something he said back when Don't Ask Don't Tell was law and the progressive Democrat President was against gay marriage?

Oy vey...that didn’t take long. Thanks Obama!
Also, Hart quit.

Independent of my feelings about Hart and whatnot I cannot fathom that the Academy wants this kind of press. Who is out there that doesn't have a somewhat tainted record and has mass appeal to the youth? Dwayne Johnson? Perhaps Kate McKinnon?

The same people who were posting the Meryl Streep clapping GIF all evening about this would love it if one person hosted, and only one. That's right, Hillary Clinton come on down

I'll allow it. But ONLY if Lena Dunham gets to do a huge dance number.

Damning evidence:
Kimmel got his start in the world of radio, not generally known for its tolerance or pro-gay views.

Some of you seem to be missing the point re: Hart's old homophobic comments. While they were bad, his current refusal to offer even an insincere apology coupled with his choosing to blame others for bringing it up is what makes this really bad. He genuinely thinks he did nothing wrong.

How would a sincere apology look different from his actual apology?

One of my greatest wishes when it comes to these kinds of discussions is that people stop using words like “insincere” and “genuine” as if they’re mind readers and have any way of knowing what is sincere and isn’t.
Please don’t lecture anyone on “missing the point” when all you’ve got to offer in response is pretending to know things you cannot possibly know.

He literally apologized in the same tweet where he announced he was stepping down from hosting

Yesterday I was wondering if this was a matter of no celebrity wanting to do the job or ABC fretting over who could get viewers to watch the show (a fools errand in my mind). But now why would anybody volunteer themselves unless they’re 100% sure they won’t get torn apart within 24 hours too? There’s seemingly no upside to this gig.

Werner Herzog to script and host, please.
Otherwise just get rid of all the nonsense and present the nominees on a screen, quickly announce the winner, and let them have their speeches.

The show would run more smoothly without a host, and more quickly. People want to see speeches, performances, etc - so why not just get rid of the host and let the broadcast breathe?

Why go to Spago when you can go to souplantation?
I’m bummed Hart is out, I like him and wasn’t aware of his past comments, though I understand the uproar now over them.

Every time something like this has happened in the past 3-4 years it becomes immediately clear that every one demanding an apology has zero interest in an apology. They don't actually believe in them. They just want to collect a scalp.
