I can tell you that domino will give you one answer while others might give you another. Four of his films have received votes, all from 1960-64

I think those two (and the only two I've seen) are Messalina and Amazons of Rome. Both are great- the first was put out on blu by Twilight Time (post-Screen Archives usurpation) recently, while the latter doesn't have a blu-ray release. Neither made my list, but I'd give the edge to Amazons of Rome for sheer volume of pleasure and due respect for its structural perversity, as one of the most intense epics of the decade at less than half the runtime that constitutes genre-identification as an "epic"!

Yes, those are the two I voted for. Some of the purest mise en scene bliss ever captured, back to back in his filmography. I've also seen La vendetta di Ercole and all of the other films in this vein he made in the late 50s right before the 1960 cut off. None are anywhere in the solar system much less the league of Amazons and Messalina, and indeed many are quite bad. But he really nailed those two, against all odds or reason from the outside looking in. I concur that Amazons gets the edge too, if you're looking for one to prioritize over the other in viewing

I picked 100 Horsemen, though I probably wouldn't have done so if the local rep house hadn't happened to show a surprisingly good DCP of the film a few months back. That's how it goes with these lists, for me at least.

I'm just noticing that IMDb has Symbiopsychotaxiplasm: Take One as a 1992 film, which is obviously wrong. If anyone failed to vote for it for this reason, feel free to submit a revised list

Backchannels, but the two I voted for are available legally in good English dubs (Messaline from Twilight Time and Amazons from MGM/Amazon streaming)

I watched Bruce Conner’s experimental short/music video Breakaway recently and absolutely loved it- might even bump something off in round two. Worth taking the mere five minutes to see it. This must have been the inspiration for the Sheena Is a Parasite video, right?

I'd never made the connection before but I can kind of see it now. Also, I must have a type because both of those feature prominently on my lists for their respective decades

I just realized that four of my current top five films are by directors who appeared in the top five of my 50s list. So much for the revolutionary decade!

As mentioned, I caught 100 Horsemen at the local cinemateque. They usually advertise screenings as either 'DCP' or '35mm' (or 16mm), but in this case it said 'ProRes file'. Anyway, it clearly seemed to come from a restored version of the film.

Really interesting frontrunner this time--I was almost worried initially that this would end up as one of my orphans, but so many of you have managed to find room for it that I can't help but take this as a groundswell of support for me personally. Thanks everyone, really--I've noticed the gesture, I'm touched, and the feeling is very much mutual

Lol, my bad, I checked in a hurry at work this morning (CET) and must've thought the list of nominees in the 1960 mini-list thread was actually the list of orphans for the whole decade. I gotta say I was a bit surprised by some of the films there.

Like I said before, I was also very shocked to see nearly 100% of the support for the Wilder film shifting unilaterally to the Švankmajer
