Red Hook Summer isn't a favorite, but Richard Brody think it's one of his best films.

Speaking of Lee, I don't think he's done anything of note since the turn of the millennium, though I know he has his defenders.
Just to site a single example, are you seriously arguing that
When the Levees Broke isn't "of note"?
There are others, of course, but that seems to be a particularly glaring omission from the record.
Wenders and Lee are similar in that they’ve generally produced far better documentaries than fictional narratives in recent years!

I thought a lot of people really liked Da Five Bloods. But it had the misfortune to come out Summer 2020, so it's only ever been available on Netflix.

You guys don't like Mediterraneo, first, because it was cut by Miramax, second, for the cultural gap, and third, because you are not passionate enough. The uncut version is quite good.

That's a rather sweeping assumption on all three counts. I don't know about elsewhere, but Britain got the 98-minute version.

You love Italian cinema and you jump the gap.
Here it was released with the Weinstein's cut. Years after, on DVD, the same, that American cut.
H.W cut all the mastubation jokes and the gags and subtext about homosexuality, and the Fresco painting on the Church.
What a lucky you were, MichaelB.
Wikipedia:
La durata della pellicola originale è di 96 minuti, quella statunitense dura 89 minuti.
Now that I'm old enough, I could appreciate the ending. To share time with pals, no speaking, and just to cut food for cooking. That's life
It is a perfect ending.

The girl from Indochina in DIVA, was she older than 18? I suppose so, but the success of the movie could be because she seems very minor, even very under-age

Mistake again. Sorry, I'm quite clumpsy.
Could it be erased? Thank's and tons of sorries.

Well, I don't see an X for delete in my post, is that because I am a new user? Probably, but I thank you anyway, Matt.
I can finally see the X, but now, not before.
Rossellini had a huge success with
Rome Open City but after that he became box office poison (I love this term) but he gained immortality and the "auteur" category and its place in Heaven... or History.
I bought and I read
The Foreign Film Renaissance on American Screens, 1946-1973 (Wisconsin Film Studies) book that I did not like, and most of the films after 1973, in the boxofficemojo list at the very end, were One time art houses Titans, like most of the awful Oscar foreign film winners. It is a list ending in 2000

I can see the 3 options NOW, not before, not at/ with? my previous messages.
A moderator have said to me that I talk so much and I "dirt" the forum. I'm based, he did not use that word.
I am sorry for "dirting" the threads. I was banned several years ago, but, and I do not have fear of being expelled another time.
Why do you have not a ZANKS reaction button or someting?
Prepositions in English-language are complicated, I've never learned and coped them. I am human.

I guess for the Venn diagram of Spike Lee and Jia’s thoughts on AI, I was only made aware today that Spike Lee appeared in an ad for
Oakley’s Meta AI glasses along with IShowSpeed during the Super Bowl. Say what you will about Wender’s limp response to a hostile question, but this is far more embarassing.

Roger Avary is all-in on this bullshit. Considering the quality of
Lucky Day, who’d ever want to see another project from him?

He also spent a lot of that Rogan interview explaining how the earth might be flat because the observable curvature of the earth from space could be caused by lens distortion, so clearly not the sharpest tool in the shed on multiple fronts...

What about the observable curvature of the earth from a plane window, with no lenses involved?
Mind you, the other day I stumbled across a bona fide lunatic who was convinced that the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs never happened—the bombing raids were the same as the ones that hit Tokyo and other cities. The rationale was similarly flimsy (if I remember rightly, it primarily revolved around the fact that some buildings were left standing), and when it transpired that she didn’t even know that the bombs were detonated hundreds of feet above the cities and that the surviving buildings were directly below the detonation, it became clear that the prospect of any fruitful dialogue was pretty much zero.
I have every possible admiration for people like Copernicus, Galileo, and Darwin, who really did manage to overturn centuries of scientific consensus, but the fact that such pioneers are (a) incredibly rare, (b) fully aware of the existing consensus in every way, and (c) experts in their relevant disciplines at the highest level doesn’t seem to deter these Dunning-Kruger case studies.
