Some are already online via Rialto.
And by the way, I think it's a great idea. My only concern is whether or not the trailers are copywritten.

I dont think it would be an issue, their really isn't any cleanup done on trailers, even with criterions, so its not like they can copyright the transfer. I doubt sites like Movie-List and VideoDetective pay royalties for showing trailers. Also, it's the internet, the worst they can do is say "take it down!" and then we oblige.
EDIT: emailed movie-list about the classic trailers they host right on their site, I'll wait for their response.

Thanks for all the great ideas and the kudos - highly appreciated. I want to finish the wallpaper section before I take upon me anymore tasks. It is a heavy job to finish the wallpaper section and I look forward to the day when I will only have to add the monthly releases.
Added to the "to do list": story of a prostitute and gate of flesh.
Thanks for the alternative cover for HCW. It is now online as well as the April newsletter.
Enjoy your weekend and hopefully I find the time to make a few more wallpaper's during the weekend!

I also have a fair amount of soundtracks to Criterion films. Would we be able to stream them via a streaming jukebox of some sort?

I've suggested it to criterion before, with no response, but how cool would it be to have all the criterion films trailers online for people to view, it would definitely be something that could help spark interest in the CC, and the more people buying it, the longer it will continue...
Don't forget but not all of Criterion discs come with the accompanying trailers. Not to say this is a bad idea, quite on the contrary. It's just that you would have to resort to other sources other than Criterion DVDs to get them.
And why not host them through
www.youtube.com ? Just a thought.

Streaming soundtracks would be impossible as I would have to obtain a license from the copyright owners and pay mechanicals. My site is non-profit and should stay this way but it also makes it impossible for me to do a soundtrack section. I could however list them with scans of the artwork which I would love to do when the wallpaper section is done. I only own the Brazil soundtrack so I would highly depend on the support of the forum members.
I think the same would apply for a trailer section - sorry. Thanks for the link Annie, might become handy with time!
Just finished these 3:
Wallpaper : added : 105 : spartacus
Wallpaper : added : 116 : the hidden fortress
Wallpaper : added : 218 : le circle rouge
Gotta finish watching Juliet of The Spirits so no more wp's for today!

Re: Soundtracks
I've been to websites where they have
music streamed via a jukebox.
It might be too much of a pain to do, but I think it's free.

with an advanced search for trailer under the special features section on criterion.com, I show that 206 current titles have trailers on them, which is enough to make it very worth doing.
I'll try hosting some on youtube, see what kind of quality i can get.

I really like the idea of both soundtracks and trailers, but if the idea is to index them on The Dungeon, I need you guys to host them on the services recommended and I will try and do the interface and linking. Let's do a test of 3 titles first to see how it works.
Added : wallpaper : 298 : gate of flesh
Added : wallpaper : 299 : story of a prostitute
Next:
Hiroshima Mon Amour
Night and Fog
Haxan
Wild Strawberries

Hammock, you are doing a great job with these. But would it be possible to include a 1600 x 1200 resolution of each one as well?

thats too much work for him man, he'd have to redo all hes done so far. let him get done with the collection, and just stretch the image to your desktop, it will still look great.

Hammock, did you ever find a place for that scan of the back of the cover of Schizopolis?

Hammock, I've been admiring your work on the wallpapers so far. Many thanks for your efforts thus far!
I am wondering if you are planning on re-doing those of your original wallpapers that were created from low-resolution JPEGs - particularly the following:
110 - M. Hulot's Holiday
111 - Mon Oncle
112 - Playtime
171 - Contempt
220 - Naked Lunch
263 - Fanny & Alexander (Theatrical) [this one is hi-res but smaller]
312 - Samurai Spy
321 - The Virgin Spring
322 - Complete Mr. Arkadin
325 - Kind Hearts And Coronets
333 - Fists In The Pocket
Of course, two of these titles aren't out yet, but I included them just so there's a comprehensive list of all low-res wallpapers.
Once again, great work!!

Thanks everyone!
Once I'm up-to-date with the collection I will re-do the low-res wallpapers as well as quality check every wp.
Sometimes if I forget to adjust the MB size of a wp and the site hosting my wp's resize it automatically with various results. Has been corrected.
I did not yet find a proper space for the back of the Schizopolis - sorry!
1600 - 1200 is not an option since I would have to re-do 150 wp's and that thought is worse than still missing 180 wp's.
Cheers!
