Noiradelic wrote:They have definitely paid contributors in product, but these "closet" videos aren't necessarily tied to that. A contributor I know who got paid in DVDs got more than half of the entire collection available at that time for 2 or 3 booklet essays.
will also chime in here to say that i also know a contributor to CC and they were paid in DVDs.

The question is if it is optional? Surely it's cheaper to pay in discs that cash but if someone doesn't want the discs what happens?

Yes, they give contributors the option of payment by cash or (heavily discounted) discs.

Sorry if this has already been posted elsewhere, or is already common knowledge.
About an hour ago CC had an exchange on Twitter with Gareth Evans in which they seem to hint at an imminent blu upgrade for Le Samourai.

Facebook page is at 99,941 likes as of right now. Any idea what they'll do when they hit 100,000?

Nothing right now, if it means competing with the B&N sale.

What they should do is offer 50% off all pre-orders. It wouldn't compete with any of the sale titles at Barnes and Noble, and would be something unusual and special to celebrate 100,000.

The nice thing about a pre-order sale is that they don't charge until titles ship. So you wouldn't be hit with one massive charge at once, just several charges of $20-$60 over the next three months.

Should we care? Contrary to common belief, Facebook likes don't cure cancer nor feed the starving Africans.

Both pages say "donate and help", since when is a Facebook like considered a donation and how much is it worth?

Constantly I'd bet. I have a friend who works for an AIDS research lab at U Michigan, and they were in competition with others, and whoever got the most likes was going to get a research grant.

I'll buy two of each of anything I buy from the Criterion website during the sale. The spare copies will go to entertainment-deprived children in Kalamazoo.
