Love Drew's commentary, and the second disc contains a "making of" short plus a two part Fletcher Markel "Telescope" IV/doco with HItch obviously made around 1963. Contender for disc of the year.

Please tell me, David - do you feel that the Aussie transfer is better than the US one? Or do you believe them to be identical?

Correct me if wrong, but the R1 Lifeboat released last year was a single disc without the Talking with Hitchcock doc. I assume the R4 will be identical to the R2 (as part of the 'Cinema Reserve' banner).

I'm not too worried about TS - I am quite happy with the Criterion Tokyo Story. Ditto Early Summer. It would be interesting to see how AV Channel handles Autumn Afternoon.

I can't seem to find any specs about Godard's Hail Mary, but its coverart. This film was controversial when released in Australia, see http://www.refused-classification.com/F ... ilMary.htm, a commentary by the same guy who recorded the one for La Chinoise would be nice.

Ah, I never bothered to listen to it, but I think it would be nice if an Australian gave a commentary or interview about the controversy this film caused in Australia.

A lot of upcoming titles seem to have been removed from Accents site, including Mouchette and Au Hasard Balthazar.
Also, ezydvd list The Fly Chamber Box as No Longer Available.

Hmm, maybe input from a local isn't a needed extra on the disc, but I agree Anne-Marie Miéville's Livre de Marie is an essential extra.

Another interesting upcoming Umbrella release is Nicholas Roeg's Full Body Massage.

I thought Vixen and Supervixens were released this week. I haven't looked in any stores yet. And aren't Beneath the Valley and Up scheduled for April?
I hope Madman continue to release more Meyer, preferably his pre-Faster Pussycat films.

On the subject of Renoir, have you (or anyone else) ever seen The Amazing Mrs Holliday (1943), which is available on an R2 disc?

Lukewarm WW2 comedy-drama about dedicated missionary Durbin trying to sneak Chinese orphans into US. Deanna's song interludes offer respite from the silly plot. Much of this was directed by Jean Renoir, but his and Durbin's plans for the films went awry.

I've never heard of this, although I see it was included in the Cinémathèque française retrospective last year (not at the NFT in London, but what do you expect from the BFI?). Does he mention it in his autobiography? And when is someone going to release Diary of a Chambermaid???

Solaris - I have to say I was quite amazed by the amount of stuff being released locally in the next couple of months. Mind you I have just received a heap of stuff from Region 2 - some of it less than perfect, like Cry of the City and Five Fingers - they both look they're under-processed as DVDs.

(BTW the la Chinoise is an excellent print, but the transfer is - again - a DVD 5. Looks great though, and it's certainly the last Godard I find watchable.)

I saw Vixen and Supervixens in stores today. I didn't know any Meyer film actually did contain hardcore, but all I have seen thus far is Faster Pussycat and Beyond the Valley.

There are some great titles being released locally soon. More Bergman, Malle and (hopefully) Bresson.

Kinda off-topic, but is there a complete list of R4 Fox Classics releases anywhere online?
