Saw Bonjour Tristesse last night - had it for days now as it shipped pretty fast. Transfer's excellent, and the film is even better than I remembered. Godard was famously inspired by Seberg's performance, casting her in Breathless and calling that role a "continuation" of this one, and I remember being a little surprised by that when I first saw this film because Seberg came off pretty wooden compared to the others. But then I realized Godard may not have been that fluent in English when he saw this, and when you're not a native speaker of the language spoken by an actor, the way you assess that performance can change a bit. So with that in mind, I paid less attention to her line readings and more to her facial expressions and body movements (arguably the most important elements in film acting), and it does make an enormous difference - you can see how great Seberg can be expressing everything visually.

Once you accept the shortcomings of the dialogue - the source material was written by a teenager, and to me at least, it really shows - the film does indeed feel like a masterpiece, a great example of Preminger's abilities at his peak. Absolutely wonderfully composed, the camera work is perfect, you can easily see how it was a huge inspiration on Godard, with some scenes serving as clear templates for his own compositions.

It's likely that the film was dubbed into French, actually. Many of the Hollywood films the Cahiers crew loved were not seen in the original language

There are still copies of this available as of this writing. I know it's a bit like playing Russian Roulette now that Indicator and Signal One are apt to pick up any/all of the Sony/Fox/MGM titles TT are handling, but I figure there are a number available right now that are either unlikely to get released elsewhere or are as good as they are going to get transfer and extra wise (Inserts, Cutter's Way, Hardcore, The World of Henry Orient, American Buffalo, Lenny, and Pretty Poison all passed this test for me). Still overpriced, but the signed offers probably represent the best deal one is apt to get on these (plus American Buffalo remains only $10). Would pick up some of the Loaches or Neil Jordan's Angel, but the lack of subs really pisses me off (ditto the crap yellow non-removable subs on the Truffauts).

I got the same e-mail and also only have Twilight Time items in my cart/wish list. I've received similar e-mail discount codes before. It's just a promotion that comes up periodically from Screen Archives that has nothing to do with Twilight Time specifically (even if that's all you have in your cart).
