Wasn't it the time they released BENJAMIN BUTTON a day or so after Official Announcement Day?

First home video release in any medium, right? Either way that's the push I needed to upgrade.
Nope, R2 of KotH and a non-anamorphic R1 of the Underneath
Thanks, didn't know of that Underneath release though it is irrelevant now.

Did they forget spine 699 or am I just blind?

I suspect they just care about those round numbers.

Is The Underneath the film Soderbergh is so famously disparaging about?

Sweet Jesus, I want all of those day 1. I didn't realize "King of the Hill" was a possibility, but it's been a one of my favorite Soderbergh titles for years so count me as ecstatic.

Yep, they did. Last time I remember this happening was when the Trilogy of Life set was suddenly delayed.

Since they licensed the Underneath from Universal at 698, maybe 699 is Criss Cross?

Maybe 699 will end up being Blue Jasmine.

Now that'd be a barebones release we'd all welcome!

Yeah, he said somewhere that he could "prove in a court of law" that it was a bad film.

I've never had so many day-one must-buys. As a Soderbergh fanatic, King of the Hill is a must-buy (especially with The Underneath included), can't wait for Fantastic Mr. Fox, and I have high hopes for Blue is the Warmest Color.

Also, I love Polanski, but don't know much about Tess. Is it good? Please tell me it's awful. I can't take another Blu on my list.

It's not a typical Polanski film (other than maybe the ending), but it's very pretty looking.

I found Tess just a little disappointing, but it's gorgeous and absorbing enough -- with uniformly brilliant performances -- that I think it's at least something anyone with a more than passing interest in Polanski ought to see.

I'm wondering if #699 is Soderbergh's Kafka.

It would make sense if it's Moonrise Kingdom- I would have expected it to be a paired release with Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Not that it matters but The Underneath was also released on Laserdisc. Seems like Kafka is the last one to come out and we know he's working on a new cut of that - hoping as someone said that is 699 in March.

I wouldn't count on 699 tying in with the releases before or after it. I'm sure Wes Anderson simply requested spine 700 for Fantastic Mr. Fox, and it would have been in the 690s otherwise. He got 300 for The Life Aquatic, resulting in a similar spine number gap for a month or two.

Damn, all these are stacked editions too, excepting blue is the warmest color, which will get one eventually.

Impressive 2014 so far. Damn.

You guys should probably wait until after the Wexner talk on Tuesday before making your predictions. I actually wouldn't mind creating a list of good questions to ask over the weekend for people planning on either emailing or attending the event. Too many stupid people out there; could be a waste of a good opportunity.

Acording to imdb.com, Tess had an "original" run time of 184 minutes, yet Criterion lists 172 minutes, same as the original DVD release. Anyone know what was excised?

here's a question, When/If you upgrade Summertime to bluray, will you correct the aspect ratio or leave it incorrectly open matte?

CC should definitely be asked about the Children of Paradise fiasco and The Earrings of Madame D transfer. CoP came out prior to last years Wexner talk and no one asked then. They need to address this.
