Has there ever been in the history of the board a newsletter clue that was both obvious and did not prompt numerous unlikely guesses afterwards?

But hey, I can do this, too. A pig? Well, of course that could refer to Charles Manson, which must mean Roman Polanski's Macbeth is entering the collection!

Sorry

I hear they got the rights to the second film, Babe: Pig in the City, but not Babe. Hence the broken glass.

Pig in the City is absolutely Collection-worthy.

It's clearly The Simpsons Movie, the pig representing Spider Pig, and the cracked glasses being...
Spoiler
the dome placed over Springfield that Homer blows up.

The elusive double clue?- Maybe this is Pigs and Battleships on blu, as the cracked glasses look exactly like that Odessa Steps woman's glasses in Battleship Potemkin.

Or, you know, probably not.

It's clearly The Thin Blue Line, being about police corruption and all. And it's blue.

You couldn't get this unless you've seen the film or read the book. Gotta know Piggy and his broken glasses. I've gotten plenty of clues to films I haven't seen, wouldn't have gotten this one unless it was a pun on the title.

What the hell...they already announced this on the New Years drawing.

Actually, I'm (somewhat) embarrassed to admit I have not read the book nor seen the film, but I know the main child character is called "Piggy" and I've seen the still of him with the broken spectacles...so, it wasn't too hard to guess.

Piggy is not the main character, child or otherwise (though, I don't want to spoil that last part), but is arguably one of three lead characters along with Ralph and Jack. Even of those three, he probably has the least number of lines.

In a sense, the drawing is a reference to the title. A pig plays an important part in the book/film, and it is referred to (in the book but not the film) as the Lord of the Flies. You'll have to read it/see it to find out why.

Babette's Feast

"Babette's menu begins with an amontillado and features "Potage à la Tortue" (turtle soup); "Blinis Demidoff au Caviar" (buckwheat cakes with caviar and sour cream); "Caille en Sarcophage avec Sauce Perigourdine" (quail in puff pastry shell with foie gras and truffle sauce)"

Quail + mummy? Nothing rings a bell looking at Anthony Quayle's filmography.

I would dearly love for this to be Night of Counting the Years, but don't see how the clue would fit.

Edit: Ah, well done Fierias.

"Dr." Andrew Weil? That man is an anathema to both medicine and reason itself. Run away, Criterion, run far, far away.

Definitely it: "Stuffed Quail with Foie Gras & Black Truffle in Vol-au-Vent (Cailles en Sarcophages)"

This is at least the third clue for this film. I wonder how much longer it will be until they start giving newsletter clues for films that have already been officially announced and/or released.

Weil's list is the best one in a while. Very thoughtful comments.
