I'll believe it when he starts shooting. I love the book and liked the script for
Silence so I obviously hope he makes it but he's announced it so many times I think it's more likely he'll just go ahead with
The Irishman.

Only just now stumbled upon this news. Pretty well cast if you ask me. Reading the book I pictured Huppert's character was supposed to be fairly young, though you can't complain about the quality being brought. Lavant's going to be amazing as the stranger (which is to say "the same as he always is).

Aaronofsky's Noah, too. Hopefully none of these projects casts Obama as Satan.

Is it possible that this hasn't been mentioned here yet? Andrzej Zulawski is planning a comeback with
a "metaphysical film noir" - looks like something to look forward to. Still in funding stage apparently.
Edit: not
one but
two sources reporting about that also mention Christian Petzold's next project, also still in funding - looks like he's preparing to venture into even more loaded territory than previously with
Phoenix, a story about an Auschwitz survivor starring, once again, Nina Hoss (and apparently also Ronald Zehrfeld). Mixed feelings about how this looks on paper but definitely intrigued to see how they tackle the subject...

Jersey Boys film.

I'm curious (and would be much obliged) if someone might be able to point me in the right direction regarding where it is you guys get your news/information about upcoming films (mostly international, since I think IMDB and Indiewire catch most of the stuff concerning American cinema). Cheers

Maybe he'll pull a rabbit out that hat, but for a guy who's said one of his favorite novels is
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and who wrote his own masterpieces about other self-destructive cloistered professional deceivers (
Glengarry Glen Ross,
House of Games), he's yet to dream up a good spy story. This one sounds very old hat, like
Argo's C-story meets
Executive Action. (Not really counting his sometimes excellent work on
The Unit because its late season spy stories are part of what ruined it.) I remember seeing him in the audience once at a talk between Ricky Jay and Errol Morris. Weirdly enough, Mamet's question to them was about the persistence of JFK assassination conspiracy theories. If this one turns out anywhere near middle range for a Mamet thriller (
The Spanish Prisoner,
Redbelt), I'll be pleasantly surprised. At least it doesn't star Val Kilmer.

Fans Of Green Screens, Incredibly Fake-Looking Things Express Love For Modern Cinema
“If you’re like me, and you like nothing more than chaotic, ugly-looking scenes of computerized carnage where you can practically see the mouse cursor hovering over the movie screen at all times, then this truly is the greatest time in history to be a moviegoer.”

It's not what it used to be, but The Onion is absolutely still funny.

Keep telling yourself that, guy who likes the later seasons of
The Office.
As for upcoming films in proudction, get ready to feel old:
A script for a Jumanji remake is in the works.

I'd imagine that'll essentially be what it is, just with no connection to the characters from the original. But who knows. I loved that movie when I was a kid, but don't feel particularly possessive of it. Seems like something that kids today would enjoy all over again if done by someone with the right sensibility and slightly dark edge.
