I first watched the Loznitsa film years ago, and before reading the story and watching the Bresson.
From what I remember its completely unrelated? Beyond the similar title.

It was directly inspired by the Dostoevsky novella (the title isn't just "similar", it's identical across multiple languages: Krotkaya, Une Femme Douce, A Gentle Creature), but in terms of psychological theme rather than narrative detail—instead of being about a woman's relationship with an obliviously abusive man, it's about a woman's relationship with an obliviously abusive state that similarly thwarts all her attempts at improving her lot in life.
