As a result of this, none of the links to upcoming artwork on the Criterion Dungeon work.
Yes, my post was an indicatio of that and a cry for help. If someone figures out how to predict these random names let me know and I will fix the links.

Sorry—just a bad joke regarding the confusion over which forum everyone was talking about.

I wonder if we're even going to get new titles today. It just doesn't have the fun it once had without being able to refresh the non-working URL.

The site is different, not better. It seems they have taken away features people liked and used often. Why take away the links to Criterion forums? They offer free advertising for their brand. I can only imagine they don't want their product criticised. How many sales have been generated by the two main forums, compared to lost sales from negative comments?
I'm not alone in saying (a view taken thanks to reading other's comments in this forum!) that Criterion hasn't had their finest year for releases. Pictureboxing is a PR disaster for them, and almost always receives negative comments in reviews.
Stop pictureboxing, Criterion!
Essays, blogs, features etc all help to sell their product. DvdBeaver tells it like it is, and I have to say Gary gives Criterion the benefit of the doubt in quite a few cases.
As it stands, I'll use this forum as my first port of call for Criterion news, where as in the past I'd go to their site first, then link to the forums.
Different, not better.

Though I don't think the Tamara jokes ever helped, I doubt the links to the forums disappearing was so much a slight as a condition of the Auteurs. I imagine Criterion wanted a dedicated forum and didn't want to alienate either fans on the Dot Com or Dot Org forums and the Auteurs gave them the "perfect" solution. If you want a cheap laugh, Google the Auteurs and see the bad reporting that passes as journalism now, as there's several newspaper articles written since Criterion's redesign fawning over how great it is that a film community like the Auteurs could exist. The Merchant Ivory films seem to have
finally appeared on the new website. Are any worth seeking out? I also enjoy the recommendations designated for
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button:
La jetee,
The Life Aquatic and
Wild Strawberries. Apt, no? Even if tenuously?

There's a thread for those films and discs
here, but I think you'll find that there is not much discussion. They're handsomely made films that feature some fine performances, but not really (I believe) the cup of tea of most people here.

Criterion's Twitter page isn't even a good piece of advertising. It's mostly links to the "Current" articles and reviews at the Criterion Confessions site.

It's pretty useless actually. The Masters of Cinema one is a lot better. They like to express their interests in films outside of their collection plus whoever writes it sounds enthusiastic in all his posts.

Any idea why the
Auteurs-hosted Film Festival hasn't changed titles in 3 months?

Maybe they forgot the free movies are the only reason anyone ever goes there.

This guy works for Criterion, and in between his Tweets about dope this, ill that and Taco Bell, we learn that he's restoring a "very important post WWII italian neo-realist film." Probably one of the Rossellinis.

Not to rehash an old argument, but I think in this situation the correct spelling is "dooshe."

Same day Mindy Kaling's adorable
tweets make me a) fall in love with her all over again and b) think that Twitter may not quite mark the end of modern civilization, this knob comes along and ruins it.

My dream is to one day live in a city that does not have a fashion week. Some people can't afford to eat, clothes don't matter.
Shit's deep

I don't have anything against Twitter, per se, but I think it makes pretty much everybody who uses it look like an idiot (I'm sure I'm no exception).

There's some kind of hint panorama on the Criterion site now. I'm not smart enough to know what all this is, but it looks like we are getting the Leopard on blu in 2010.

So, aside from the scheduled releases:
Ride with the Devil
Dog Star Man (by Brakhage II) in Blu
The Leopard in Blu
M in Blu
And a lot I have no idea about!

"Po Valley" - would it be to wishful to hope for "The Tree of Wooden Clogs" ??? Or more like "Il Grido w/ Gente del Po as a B-Side.
"Ne Touchez pas la Hache" on Blu-ray for the first Rivette as part of the IFC deal?
