All four of the Menkes films on the Criterion Channel start with the Arbelos logo. Maybe Arbelos will release a box set?

That seems more plausible than a Criterion release given that her films aren't extremely well-known. As long as her work is rescued from Facets!

Are these just random guesses?

Some are random wish-fulfillment, some are based on things we know are coming (Atlantics and American Factory have both been confirmed by Netflix; The Story of a Three-Day Pass just had a new restoration premiere from Janus), and some are based on Criterion's relationship to other companies they license from (guesses of golden-era films from Warner Bros., for example).

In general, it’s based on information about what restorations are recently available, what Criterion’s partners such as Janus, IFC and Sony are doing, reports about a director/cinematographer working with Criterion on a new release, word of someone working on a supplement for a particular film, a Criterion-fodder film getting a boutique release in another Blu-ray region, Criterion’s recent shift in focus to add more films to the canon from under-represented groups/countries, and hopes and dreams.

Jason Polan, who died last year of cancer, used to provide drawings for the Criterion newsletter that would provide specific clues for soon-to-be-announced titles (and one for New Year’s Day for the year’s planned releases).

Whoops! I do. With the Sony release of The Handmaiden inexplicably out-of-print, though, a Criterion edition would be welcome.
