I'm guessing this is from the upcoming newsletter? Or maybe an old one that I missed? But i don't think so because I love Patton Oswalt and would have remembered it. Anyway,
he did a top ten that has my favorite two line review of any movie ever. On
Gimme Shelter:
One of the best horror movies ever made. The whole movie is shot inside the belly of a quivering, invisible demon—the 1960s, rotting in the sunshine of idealism and about to burst with flies.

It's an old top 10 from a few years ago.

That makes sense, but it already has a fantastic Blu-Ray from MGM, and surely the evolving anger of the world would suggest something else (of course, I'm most likely wrong).

Lovely! But will it come with the original six-channel sound mix (L, LC, C RC, R, and Cs), or has that been lost?

It's naturally Battlefield Earth. Those are the faces of the people who have seen it.

I'm going to assume the Criterion reps were drunk when they licensed the MGM films.
"OHMYGOD La cage aux folles I LOOOOOOOVE that movie it's hilarious!"
"No wait dude. Lookit. Fuckin' It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World! Jonathan Winters rocks that movie like a BOSS!"
"Fuckin' Buddy Hackett, dude."
"We totally want ALL of this shit!"

Yes--the angry faces of all four people who have seen it. Let's at least hope that Criterion will be doing a 4k restoration of a new, longer director's cut and a commentary track by Travolta in the Psychlo language with English subtitles.

Yes--all four people who have seen it.
I saw it in the theater with my parents. So who is number four? David Miscavige?

This isn't funny, guys. I mean, we all like to make jokes about Armageddon and Border Radio, and its all in good fun and we have a laugh out of it. Nothing wrong with that.
But they weren't Stanley Kramer movies.

I doubt it's right for this reason (plus there are only four Earths, with eight "mad"s in the title). Notice too that not all of them look mad. The first planet in the upper left is indifferent and get's progressively angrier. Clearly this has something to do with the clue. What exactly, I have no idea.

You know the title
isn't actually
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, right?

What eight 'mad's? There are only four in the official title.

I thought that there were only four in the title, but I went by Donald's entry. I should have double checked.

I saw it with a friend ... which makes five ... soooo, that must mean that ... clearly Criterion has screwed up again! Obviously this means replacement discs for my copy of
Battleship Earth. Another clear indication that this once proud company is in decline. It's so sad.
