I think the Flight of the Phoenix and Last Waltz covers are pretty great.

The Flight of the Phoenix cover makes me wish I liked the film better.

I like this incarnation of The Last Waltz more than all previous covers

They're all fine, but The Last Waltz bothers me for how all members of The Band are focused on Scorsese's directions, making him the center of attention instead of the actual group. It doesn't vibe with the mostly hands-off approach Scorsese takes to the doc, and its implicit egoism/unearned auteurist idolatry in this specific case rubs me the wrong way. His name looming above the title with no mention of the group's name is just bitter icing on the cake. All hail Scorsese- the man who conducted these musicians and brought together this event being filmed- oh wait..

Adoption is looking a bit like a early 2000s Criterion cover.

The Piano 4K comes in a standard case:

Did they cover the wacky C with the sticker, or is the wacky C not on the clear plastic sleeve like the year/brand side/spine labeling?

The insert is plastic with the CC branding and white title box printed on it. But the cowards didn't even make the whole thing see-through

if nothing else, I'll find that a bit useful as I'm one of the people who keeps the "director approved" stickers on the inside of the case after opening. was wondering how I would do that, so that makes it a little bit more useful!

what's the insert like? clearly we can see the Dogme manifesto printed...is it just that on one side and the essay on the other? pretty curious

Isn't that still semi-transparent material, like the packaging for Mount Eerie?

Yeah they should've made the text the same resolution as the film so no one could read it

It's a stapled 16-page booklet with the cover oriented differently than the pages inside, which contain the essay and a bunch of pictures:

You can see through it if you place it directly on something but not otherwise

Kinda ridiculous that they half-assed the Blue Note logo mimicry. It really should've had STEREO in a box with "The Finest in Film Since 1984", Criterion below that, and the spine number in an oval to the left of that.

The Blue Note esque 'Round Midnight cover is gorgeous.
I have always loved that Walker poster too.

Ugh lemme be the first to say it: Walker is a horribly disappointing downgrade from the DVD cover.

They should have at least changed the type from the original poster.

I do like the Eyimofe cover, though I wonder why they bothered when it also had an excellent poster that I believe Janus made itself.

Indeed. Looks like MS Paint fan art. I realize it's based on the poster but removing the character's face is a weird move.

It's not based on the poster : it's the poster. Nothing was redrawn, except for the face they removed. Why?

Other than that they're all great covers I think.

Any chance it's due to weird legal rights when using Ed Harris's image?
