I am pretty ecstatic about this month's announcement. Might even grab the BBS box during B&N sale... the other three are must-haves.

It's too bad the forum had to get hacked on the eve of the greatest Criterion announcement month in years

Any rumours/news about Criterion releasing more Truffaut movies?

I almost shed a tear after seeing the recent annoucements. Outside the "Antichrist", all are must haves. Three in one month!
Thank you criterion. Looks like i have to start saving early.

I'll be getting Night of the Hunter only for now. Modern Times has never been among my favourite Chaplins, and I'm hoping that CC will eventually break up the BBS set into individual releases as they did with the Cassavetes. Frankly, the only two titles I'd like to get from that set are the Bogdanovich and Five Easy Pieces (found it interesting and revealing to note that the set is a Blu exclusive for 3 weeks). As for Antichrist: glad that others get something out of it; personally it meant nothing to me, and I guess I'm at a point now where I've seen enough Von Trier films to say that the man just doesn't speak to me. Credit due to Criterion though: their cover is rather good, and I'm genuinely intrigued by the Ian Christie essay.

Not getting Head, Finch? You're missing out. Head is good. I like Head. There's this girl I know and I may give her Head as a gift.

I don't know, I like Head, but I don't think I'd like to be seen paying for it in public

Thought I'd see if the BBS box is up yet at Amazon. Not worth your while to check unless you like bondage.

I believe they said something non-commital, non-specific on Facebook recently that there would be something more in the future. As far as I know, Criterion's unreleased library still includes
The Soft Skin,
Two English Girls, and his final two films, and the five MGMs could potentially be in play if Criterion goes after a second round of MGM titles.
By the way, I just noticed that MGM has made
The Green Room available at long last on their burn-on-demand line. Somehow, I missed the discussion on the MGM burn thread regarding this.

Glad you could make it to the party. Unfortunately, everyone else went home a while ago.

Name a non-Kurosawa Japanese director that isn't.

Anyway, the following are Janus properties that were released under The Classic Collection tag with HVE back in the day (or that instead have a Janus logo on the box) and have not been released by Criterion or Eclipse. This isn't exhaustive. I don't know if Janus, and by extension Criterion, still has the rights to these:
La Ceremonie (Chabrol, 1995)
Ronin Gai (Kuroki, 1990)
The Snare (Masumura, 1973)
Who's Got the Gold? (Inouye, 1974)
Sword of Justice (Misumi, 1972)
Zero Focus (Nomura, 1961)
Seance On a Wet Afternoon (Forbes, 1964)
Under the Flag of the Rising Sun (Fukasaku, 1972)
La Balance (Swaim, 1982)
Mr. Klein (Losey, 1976)
Un Deux Trois Soleil (Blier, 1993)
The Cars That Ate Paris (Weir, 1975)
La Cienaga (Martel, 2001)
La Valle (Schroeder, 1972)
Sada (Obayashi, 1998)
Masques (Chabrol, 1987)
Plucking the Daisy (Allegret, 1956)
Time Without Pity (Losey, 1957)
Man or Aran (Flaherty, 1934)
More (Schroeder, 1969)
Rendez-vous (Techine, 1985)
Tomorrow (Anthony, 1972)
I See a Dark Stranger (Launder, 1946)
Cure (K. Kurosawa, 2001)
Fall Guy (Fukasaku, 1982)
Victim (Dearden, 1961)
Story of Women (Chabrol, 1988)
The Demon (Nomura, 1978)
The Rocking Horse Winner (Pelissier, 1950)
Don Juan (Or if Don Juan were a Woman) (Vadim, 1973)
The Night Heaven Fell (Vadim, 1958)
The Tale of Zatoichi (Misumi, 1962)
Thar's good eatin' thar. Not all my taste, but good eatin' fur sure!

No problem -- someone must have given you the wrong address. #-o It actually took place at the Warner Archive thread.
