Fandor is now available as an add-on service to Prime, incidentally. I suspect this timing the week of Filmstruck's (planned) launch is not accidental.

I couldn't remember when Filmstruck was supposed to go live, so I went to the website and found that instead of info for that, it said I could start a trial or just log in. Out of curiosity, I put in my beta login info and... well, I'm now using Filmstruck. Gotta say, my favorite improvement over the Beta is listing that films have x number of supplements available. Their categories and ability to browse are still a bit subpar, but it is a vastly better experience than a month ago.

An addendum about the supplements. It's weird to me that thus far they're all linked to themes, not specific movies. Kind of a pain that way, but I'm assuming that they're kind of a second priority to the movies themselves getting up.

Samantha Fuller's A Fuller Life has been added to FilmStruck and is playing with a Janus logo.

Tarkovsky's Mirror is also playing with Janus logo. Huston's Moulin Rouge is up but with MGM intros (though it looks like a spectacular HD print).

Code Unknown is up too which isn't surprising but no other Hanekes are - so maybe Criterion didn't get the lot in a bulk offer like we assumed.

I can sadly announce that while the website is up and running, the app has yet to launch on the fourth generation Apple TV. Has anyone had any luck finding the application through Amazon Fire TV?

EDIT: According to Filmstruck's Facebook account, the application will launch later today.

EDIT x2: It would also seem that a lot of titles either haven't been uploaded or won't be available on the service. Dreyer's Gertrud, Master of the House, and Ordet are not currently on the service. I can only imagine that dozens of others that were on Hulu have either not made their way over or may not be available at all.

It looks like most of it is there, though; similarly, a lot of the titles Criterion has streaming rights to but never put on Hulu (only putting it on Amazon, like in the case of Black Narcissus or Big Deal on Madonna Street or Here is Your Life) are there but it's not complete (I'd love to see the HD-restored versions of Canterbury Tale and I Know Where I'm Going!, for two). I don't think they're at their full 1,300 titles they promised but it'll get there in time.

I am rather impressed with the Fritz Lang selection - for some strange reason I didn't really put two and two together and just assumed it'd be the Kino-owned German years with what Criterion has but they really worked with MGM to get a lot of his American stuff up as well (I'd *love* a spine for Fury, which is streaming through MGM, incidentally).

Do we have a count of total CC titles compared to Hulu?

They appear to have removed the numbering from the site itself, so someone would need to figure out a way to count off the Criterion titles.

Awesome! What's the length? It would be nice if they could significantly slow the frame rate present on the Kino.

Mário Peixoto's Limite also has a Criterion logo.

That's promising! The Kino DVD is 72 minutes, and not from cutting scenes.

Chungking Express playing with the Criterion logo? Is this a revelation or did we know this already?

This is a revelation. Holy shit. They better put out the Blu-ray again so I can buy it immediately.

This has been speculated, but I believe this is the first actual evidence that Criterion has this. I wonder if a complete Tarkovsky box set is a possibility.

Bear in mind that there's a good chance they negotiated just to have streaming rights for some old OOP titles (like Silence of the Lambs) and the studio is maintaining the physical rights.

Some more Harold Lloyd is on Filmstruck than is on Hulu:

Movie Crazy (1932)
For Heaven's Sake (1926)
Why Worry? (1923)

According to Filmstruck's Twitter account, the Apple TV app will not be available until December. Filmstruck is becoming mind numbingly frustrating, as they said that they would launch the Apple TV application later in the day.
mfunk9786 wrote: Whaaaaaat a mess.
You can say that again. Filmstruck launches with almost no promotion after the delay, followed by a flawed website. Not to mention the inconsistent details about when apps will launch and the postponing of sign ups.

certainly seems like they weren't lying about the sign up issues delaying the initial launch.

Well, I guess they really just didn't have the signup stuff ready. Go figure!

The selection of Criterion stuff right now is weird. In some cases, it's way more than was on Hulu (Satyajit Ray has two films on Hulu, 11 on Filmstruck, including the Apu trilogy). In other cases, it's way less (Hulu has six Dreyer films, Filmstruck only three). Hopefully all the Hulu stuff rolls over on the eleventh, but it's already a really solid selection.
