I wouldn't read too much into just yet, they said that dozens of times on various titles. There is always hope though.

I wouldn't be surprised if some titles are in the works. There was a UK retrospective last year?, and I thought we would see a few BFI releases. Mad Fox is THE film I am most interested in seeing.

A director who definately deserves exposure. Also, when will someone, anyone, release Shuji Terayama's films?

I'm wondering whether you would ever consider this for an Eclipse set: Terence Davies' "Distant Voices, Still Lives," "The Long Day Closes," and "Of Time and the City." Call it The Liverpool Trilogy. Admittedly, "Of Time and the City" is currently held by Strand, but perhaps they'd be willing to part with it.

The Criterion Collection:
Lots of Davies fans here, but the rights are quite spread out and have caused us a little grief. Don't give up hope, but our first Davies entry is not likely to be a big box...

Perhaps they referring to a single release of Distant Voices, Still Lives.

Here's a left-fielder for ya: Robert Downey, Sr. Any chance of one or more of his directorial efforts being in the piepline at Criterion HQ? Most of his seventies output - Pound, Sticks and Bones, Moment to Moment - is hard to come by and they certainly sound like very interesting films from what I've read. Would love to see them with the excellent educational kind of extras we associate with your ouput (there's a lot of context that needs exploring with these films, it seems to me!).

Love those, but were thikning it would be a perfect Eclipse set. We've got our fingers crossed, but last we checked in it wasn't looking good.

There was a source a while back about them checking out films from a New York video store for Pound. I had deleted it because it didn't have much substance, going to add this to the Eclipse forthcoming list.

I would feel guilty about posting as much on the Facebook page as I do but Becker himself said two months back that they would rather do "Mulvaney" responses this way because they were falling behind on answering emails and not responding to more serious inquiries like missing booklets, replacement cases, etc because of all the wishlist/spec questions.

Criterion seems to want people to post speculative questions on Facebook rather than email Mulvaney. I think it's been beneficial for this whole process to become public. It's great marketing and has added a lot of publicity for something that they were already doing anyways...so everyone wins.

Someone asked about Something Wild. Their response was "As for Something's Wild, have you been talking to Jonathan Demme?"

I asked Criterion to look into this title about a year ago and never got a response. It's a great and strange comedy with a awesome opening song of David Byrne and Celia Cruz. I think I remember reading somewhere that P.T. Anderson love this film, but I could be wrong.

Someone asked about Blue Collar getting the answer that there are no plans for it at the moment, but that they love working with Schrader.
Also reading down further the list of posts they gave an answer when asked about the The Devils:

I guess this means that they have been in talks with Warners about it.

I asked about Jour de fete and Parade and they said both are coming "in time". They also said "the versions are shaping" the Jour de fete release, so I guess we can expect at least two of the three versions (B&W, partial and full colorized).

Some great responses today.

"Both Tatis [Jour de fete and Parade] will find their way to Criterion in time. As for Jour de fête, the versions will certainly play a big part in the way we shape the release."

First confirmation re: "Parade" I've read, and nice to know the alternate versions of "Jour de fete" are planned.

I hope that response indicates "Yeah, we have access to that and hope to get to it soon," rather than, "That would be really cool, but who knows if it's even possible."

Besides how great a Criterion release of Letter From an Unknown Woman would be, it would also indicate access to Johnny Guitar and all of the other great Republic films owned by Paramount and licensed to Lionsgate that neither company seems to have much interest in releasing.

This has too shabby elements, maybe one of the three silents released by DFI (other US companies have the rights), but my best bet is Michael.
