Thanks! The Wind is an excellent film, so if you ever get the chance to see it, by all means do. I believe Warner holds the rights to these films, which means the prospect of a Criterion release is only a fantasy. Hopefully they will release both movies soon with some worthy features.Michael Shetina wrote:Love The Scarlet Letter! The Wind and the case are good as well, but that cover is just as striking as some of Criterion's best. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to see the film yet, so I have no idea how appropriate it is to the tone of Sjostrom's work. Not sure about the text, though.

Thanks for the feedback. I personally like the empty space on the box cover, but I do agree about the font and backgrounds on the individual covers. Unfortunately, I have no major Photoshop skills ... in fact, I don't have Photoshop. Believe it or not, I made these using PowerPoint! I may try to improve these at some point.Klaylock wrote:I like the framing of these two covers quite a bit. (The box cover looks a bit too plain and has too much empty space.) Perhaps though, the title of the film should be as big as, and in the place of Lillian Gish's name. A different font and a background with more texture would certainly help too. It would be really awesome if the crossing frames were more ornate, perhaps even in the pattern of Gish's dress in each cover!

Out of curiosity, where did you get those original images? I have suddenly become uncontrollably curious about what the covers would look like with some tweaking. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, and I promise I won't suddenly become a total jackass and steal your ideas or anything.Feego wrote:Thanks for the feedback. I got the movie photos from this website, a great resource for classic film stillsKlaylock wrote:Out of curiosity, where did you get those original images? Huh. Beautiful covers. Just noticed: If you take the graphic elelment in the lower right quadrant of Scarlet Letter and 'fill' the graphic void in the lower right quandrant of The Wind...hmmmm....was that intentional?Feego wrote:![]()

Hmmmm, indeed. I can assure you that was not intentional, but it is a clever observation.skuhn8 wrote:Huh. Beautiful covers.
