You must really hate Citizen Kane and Othello. And Sunset Blvd.

I like the Japanese Chirashi poster, which I have and can confirm is printed in silver ink:FrauBlucher wrote: Fri May 05, 2023 4:37 pm How would folks feel about this being the Criterion cover?
I get it, but it doesn’t excite me.

I don't think any of those characters got pregnant and had to decide what to do about a baby in the face of the feckless men in their lives.Walter Kurtz wrote: Tue May 16, 2023 4:10 pm You must really hate Citizen Kane and Othello. And Sunset Blvd.
I think it is spare but striking with elegant typography, and it suits the film quite well. That little ligature above the ‘st’ is cutely evocative of the spiraling camera movements in the film. Can’t say I’d really want an “exciting” cover for it (I really dislike that Japanese poster above).FrauBlucher wrote: Fri May 05, 2023 4:37 pm How would folks feel about this being the Criterion cover?

I also have not seen the movie and don't know what I'm looking at, but on the contrary I find that intriguing and it makes me want to see the film to find out.CSM126 wrote: Wed May 17, 2023 12:33 pm As someone who hasn’t seen the movie I look at that and think “what am I even looking at”, so I don’t think it’s terribly effective.
Well there's also this poster with both images used, which to me doesn't really look that bad. Thank you for reading.Matt wrote: Wed May 17, 2023 7:20 pm Other than the fake whale, the only other key art I’ve ever seen has been a guy walking down a shadowy street. It’s so bland as to represent pretty much half the films made in the last 80 years.

I really like the TIFF poster. But the "Jonah" poster isn't bad. Analogy... it looks like you want a "how-to" or self-help book whereas the graphic designer is trying to write poetry. Good for him. Don't tag lines or synopses exist to tell you what the movie's about?CSM126 wrote: Wed May 17, 2023 10:48 pm So it’s about a guy walking to see his local theatre’s production of Moby-Dick
You're welcome.

Thanks; this is a great idea to add the transfer info.cdnchris wrote: Fri May 12, 2023 3:26 pmyoloswegmaster wrote: Fri May 12, 2023 12:13 pmcdnchris wrote: Fri May 12, 2023 4:59 am Branded to Kill [4K] (Insert; Blu-ray edition had booklet)
..../...I can see about starting to do that with the next round if people would find that helpful.tenia wrote: Fri May 12, 2023 1:26 pm As a very general idea, I was wondering : Chris, what would you think of adding in the pictures one of the tech details part of the booklet ? You're already taking pics so it wouldn't cost you much time, and it'd be, I think, a worthy addition.
I try to pick out and stress the details that are in the notes but I hate transcribing that stuff word-for-word.yoloswegmaster wrote: Fri May 12, 2023 2:02 pm Great idea! I was actually thinking about suggesting something like this a couple days ago. I never understood why most reviewers (besides Svet) never post the tech notes. It would definitely help curb the amount of misinformation that's been happening in regards to discussions about the people in charge of restorations.
I do have a place in the site's database for restoration notes (like at the bottom of this page) and keeping track of restorations but fell behind in filling them in. I guess I could at least keep up with the newer titles.
Edit: and I went about and added the details to Targets
Going through the Criterion subreddit, I found a post that showed it on May 15th, so that’s when it most likely was put, or maybe it was there since the start.black&huge wrote: Wed May 24, 2023 4:46 pmI only just noticed this yesterday when I randomly browsed the listing on their site and have no idea how long its been there but I don't recall it being there when it was first announced?Spoiler

I have just received my combo UHD+Blu-Ray of "Branded To Kill"; I guess the only way to check it out is to try the blu-ray disk.
