I see that Dorota Kędzierzawska's Wrony was singled out in Peter Bradshaw's review of Mark Cousins' A Story of Children and Film but I can't seem to find it on DVD so it would be good if Second Run could release it. Of Kędzierzawska's work, only Pora umierać is available as far as I can see.

So many wonderful and neglected gems out there... we wish we could do them all!
Sadly, time and finances mean we can only work on a couple of projects at a time. We love your suggestions, tho'. Keep 'em coming.

#1 (former bloc) request on my list is Wajda's Popioly. Apparently there's a Polish dvd, but I don't think it's the full 4 hour version & it's 1.78:1 rather than the original 2.35:1 ratio. It's as sweeping & devastating as Marketa Lazarova & really deserves a proper (preferably blu-ray) release w/ (complete) English subs.

That's in the hands of the Poles - I suspect the only master available is the cropped one.
But quite a few Wajda restorations have been unveiled of late (
Ashes and Diamonds, Innocent Sorcerers, The Wedding, The Promised Land, The Young Ladies of Wilko, and I hear rumours that a scrubbed-up
Man of Marble is being unveiled in Poland later this year), so they may well get around to it - especially since Wajda is still alive (albeit fast approaching his tenth decade).

I was wondering now that Marc Isaacs is finally being recognized outside of SR if (what IMDB says are) his last two without DVDs could make their way here? Again just going by that site they're a bit over a hundred minutes which sounds about right for a release. On a sidenote has anyone heard of the DVD for The Road which supposedly was going to be announced in April?

It's out, I've got it, but I haven't watched it yet.

On an even further sidenote, two other Roads are overdue for an English-language DVD, masterpieces both: Yol by Yilmaz Güney and Jol by Darezhan Omirbaev

...although Alan Clarke's Road is coming out in France as part of Potemkin's upcoming Clarke compilation.

Himala in particular.
