Arrow will be releasing Sixteen Candles in the US, so it appears Criterion relinquished their rights

Indiewire has an interview with Thelma Schoonmaker and she mentions working on a restoration of It’s Not Just You, Murray!. No company is mentioned, but I assume it'll be included in a set with Italianamerican and other Scorsese shorts.

Studio Canal has announced its blu-ray/dvd releases of The White Sheik and Nights of Cabiria as exclusive UK releases in April. It is part of their Vintage World Cinema Collection label. Criterion must have the US rights.

I just saw Jim Jarmusch in Ann Arbor tonight. He said that Ghost Dog as well as Coffee and Cigarettes are headed to Criterion.

Ha, I was going to report the same thing (great performance and Q & A, wasn't it?). I'll only add that Jarmusch stated he loves Criterion and that when one of his film's rights reverts back to him, he offers it up to the label. He and his collaborator Carter Logan were performing as Sqürl, providing an exquisite score to four of Man Ray's experimental shorts. He acknowledged an audience member's question regarding a speculative Criterion edition of the Man Ray films by saying he would love for that to happen and for his band to be able to provide the soundtrack.

That's great news. Hopefully they prioritize Ghost Dog as I don't think that's ever gotten a US or UK blu-ray release.

Jim Jarmusch is a great follow on Instagram. He likes just about everything Criterion posts.

Jarmusch spent the weekend here in Bloomington, IN, and was simply fantastic. His band Squrl played live accompaniment to some Man Ray short films. He did a 2-hour interview/Q&A and then did Q&A's after screenings of Dead Man and Limits of Control. It was an amazing time.

Well Godard is up there with Fellini as far as releasing a comprehensive box if only they could get the rights to do so.

A lot of the U.S. rights seem tied up in other labels, but if they were open to just releasing a "whatever's left" box (which, including shorts et al. is a ton), acquiring as much as possible without a concrete defining connective tissue between the films, I'll declare Release of My Lifetime right here and now (until that Deville one comes).

One would have thought that there would've been a New Year's clue if they were releasing a Godard box this year. I just looked at The Cinematheque's website since I will be traveling to Paris later this year & stumbled upon the Jean-Luc Godard Retrospective @ La Cinematheque francaise which looks very comprehensive. Is there some special Godard anniversary this year? If Criterion could release even half of it, it would impressive.

I think 65 years of film making or his 90th birthday might be bigger selling points for a whole box, and he may still be working @100 as far as we know.

Was at Elliott Bay Book Company in Seattle tonight where John Sayles read from his new novel, “Yellow Earth.” He took a few questions, nothing too revelatory. But later when signing a copy of his novel, I asked him if there was any news about more of his films being released on disc anytime soon (his catalogue is woefully underrepresented imo; personally hoping for “City of Hope”) he said they’ve been in talks with Criterion about “Lonestar.” Of course I’ll take anything of his that gets released.

Hidden in the comments of this Instagram post, Spike Lee seems to confirm that 4 Little Girls will be the next of his films to come from Criterion.

Watching the trailer, I'm curious why it looks as though Criterion doesn't have Les Carabiniers?

I always assumed they had it along with Le petit soldat from Rialto Pictures.

It's a favorite of mine, so been hoping to see them release it.

He also seems to confirm in this video from August that Criterion was going to be releasing 'She's Gotta Have It' (skip to 2:45)

It's entirely possible they do have it; all the trailer shows is that it isn't part of the Criterion Channel retrospective. Les Carabiniers doesn't appear to have had a recent remastering—Rialto doesn't offer a DCP and I believe it's the only one of Godard's '60s features with no Blu-ray edition anywhere—so they may not have any suitable materials for it at the moment.
