It's an interesting one. It's a pre-fame Jackie in a straight-laced kung fu movie, which he tries to spice up with silly comic characters and some astonishing kung fu. Definetly a mess, but I'm very fond of it.

Watched Tiger Cage 1 & 2 yesterday and today, and on first viewing, I prefer the first film. Rosamund Kwan is an annoying damsel in distress character and the first film has the better opening and pacing. Even so, TC2 is still a lot of fun and strikes out in a somewhat different direction with an emphasis on the martial arts this time which yields some pretty cool hand to hand combat and a sword fight between Donnie and the blonde American heavy.

I was the opposite. It thought Tiger Cage 1 was fine. Some decent action and gritty thriller stuff, but not a patch on the In the Line of Duty series from around the same time. Tiger Cage II on the other hand was a blast. Better action scenes, Donnie Yen had matured as an action performer, and the humour even landed, which is rare for me with HK genre films. Tiger Cage III is mental, tho'. Not a good movie, but utterly bizarre. Worth seeing. It turns into Phantom of the Opera half way through because...?

I'm glad Miami Vice is coming (pity it's not a UHD but Universal might have vetoed that or 88 simply didn't see MV shifting enough copies on 4k to warrant the extra costs) but would it have killed 88 to post specs for each of the titles even if the final details are TBC? I'd be pleasantly surprised if MV has the theatrical and DC in fresh scans but I doubt it.

Does Miami Vice have a 4K master available? If not, one would assume any new master will have to wait for Mann to finish his current film.

It was shot on 1080p HDCAM, except the slow motion shots and a few others done in Super35.

Didn't stop 'em doing Collateral on UHD (admittedly a very minimal upgrade, as even the HDR is non-existent).

Given 88 Films' history of prioritizing the release of multiple cuts, we may finally not need to double dip to get both versions of Miami Vice, which is reason enough to be excited

Saw this projected in 35 a few weeks ago and boy howdy is this obvious. Can't imagine how much a 4k could add.

I went ahead and pre-ordered, as it's been a while since we've had a Mann film on Blu-ray and this is a favourite (and I've only seen the 132m cut). Has been confirmed elsewhere that this will include both cuts (first time in the UK for the 139m 'director's cut'), and I suspect they'll add some decent extras considering all this drum-rolling (no specs, and not even the finished artwork, before it's up for pre-order).

Collateral had a lot more 35mm material—all of the indoor sequences were shot on film except for the climactic scene in Annie's office. Miami Vice only used 35mm for underwater and high-speed shots, plus a few odd close-ups using an unusual lens (the T-Rex SuperScope) that didn't work properly with the HD cameras. I don't think there's a single scene that was shot entirely on 35mm.

The 88 release of Magnificent Warriors is on sale on Amazon- do we have reason to believe that a Eureka disc will be forthcoming and potentially best the 88, or is this the time to bite?

The Saucy 70s boxset sounds quite fun and all three are films that Nigel Wingrove's Redemption label released under their "Jezebel" sex film focused spin off-label on VHS in the 1990s. The Sex Thief is the first film by Martin Campbell (who followed it up with Eskimo Nell but of course went on to bigger things with The Mask of Zorro and its sequel, Goldeneye and the 2006 Casino Royale), Au Pair Girls is directed by Hammer stalwart Val Guest, and Zeta One has an eclectic cast including Valerie Leon (a number of Carry Ons and Hammer's Blood From The Mummy's Tomb), Charles Hawtrey and Benny Hill foil Rita Webb!

The specs haven't been finalized but OldPangYau has confirmed that the the 88 release will also have Mandarin Cut, but this one will be Fully Uncut version and is 5 minutes longer than the version found on the Vinegar Syndrome release and will have a Hybrid Cantonese/Mandarin track and a English/Mandarin hybrid track.

Seems like some will want to double dip with the Eureka set as 88 Films have confirmed that both cuts will be in 4K UHD (whereas Eureka has the alternate U.S. cut in 1080p only).

Which title(s) is your post referring to? The image is not showing and I refreshed my page twice to make sure it wasn't my browser.

Glad I held off on purchasing the Vinegar Syndrome cover. While the VS version has a great cover, having a Tony Rayns piece is a major plus.

I personally prefer the 88 cover, not to mention the 88 release having the full version of the Taiwanese cut and having more audio options for it. I will say that it is a bit strange that they are putting all the extras on disc one when they easily could allocate most of the non-commentary extras on the second disc.
