Not a bad image or font for the title, but simply isn't evocative of the film.

Look more like a Nosferatu to me. The dark theme isn't working, but nice cover though.

I know nothing about this film, but the cover made me want to - surely a good thing. Very nice :)

Wow, that cover looks like one in a box set. Maybe just wishful thinking.

I agree. The HHH cover is gorgeous.

But what's up with the year on the Café Lumière cover?

Thanks, guys :)

Just made two more covers, and a box cover. Not much change from the Café Lumière cover, but one guy mentioned a box set, so I made this!

Isn't that the kid from The Red Balloon, not Flight of the Red Balloon?

Shit, youre right. I guess I just mixed those two films ^_^

And surely Criterion would have his name as Hou Hsiao-hsien.

Nitpickers on parade! They wouldn't have all the films' years on the side logo as 1980 either, nor would they have any year at all on the outer box set cover.

That's what this thread is for.

Nevertheless, that's a lovely template for the inevitable (hah!) Hou box set.

The Hou boxset that I would love to see released would be his Taiwanese history trilogy. Someone should try their hand at that!

A couple of ideas for the upcoming adaptation of one of my favorite novels:

I feel like they're both overly reminiscent of other DVD covers, but it's better than another noir-styled image.

These covers are not bad at all. (By the way, good job on the Hsiao-Hsien covers, Bandering, small errors be damned!) I prefer the image on the second, but the text just does not work. Besides the border, I can't say what is exactly putting me off of the first. Perhaps it is the way the text and picture (both good in their own right) interact, or maybe the strangely artificial appearance of the image. Content-wise, I can't talk since I have (obviously) not seen the movie, but I guess they do both depict Brooklyn! My advice would be stick with the second picture and change the text, maybe to something less font-looking. (And maybe change the logo color too.)

Cosmic Bus: I love how you worked with the type in the left cover of Motherless Brooklyn. I also love the picture.I don't know if it catches the films atmosphere or something, but it's really a slick picture which works great for the type treatment.

Not a big fan of your other though.

Thanks for the comments. I really liked the photo from the second cover, but couldn't figure out what exactly to do with it; this attempt is better, I think, although maybe the design is too... forced? Either way, it's all just a fun creative outlet. :)

I haven't seen it yet, so I don't know whether I would endorse it! However, it just opened at Film Forum yesterday...
