Perhaps we should just act as if Marienbad did come out this year.

Maybe The Cook too! "Changes of clothing"

edit: Shit... and I thought I was being sarcastic.

That's what I thought, too, because of the sleeping bag and changes of clothing clues, but the lamb and bear kinda threw me. So maybe it is a double clue. Don't the "wife" and the "lover" sleep in a sleeping bag in his room full of books? It's been years since I've seen this, so I can't remember.

Has there ever been one? I like precedent.

Changes of clothing because they're at the dinner party for such a long time. You guys, this is just about the Exterminating Angel.

You could argue that there are "many changes of clothing" in Cook too. (Though "many, many" might be pushing it.) I still think this is definitely an Angel clue, with a very slight possibility that it is a mysterious unprecedented double clue, and an even more slight possibility that it's hinting at a 3-film dinner-themed boxset that also includes Andre.

Ooh! Then it must include Veber's The Dinner Game as well! Liking this dinner-themed boxset idea. Come on Criterion, think outside of the box.

There are animals in that picture. I wonder if they're releasing Animal House, Babe, and Milo & Otis?

Isn't there a lamb in Simon of the Desert?

Yeah, it could be Criterion's answer to Sony's Martini Movies.

But nobody changes clothes. Whereas in The Cook..., the actors change clothes every time they enter a new room. There are two speech ballons, so I'm maintaining that it's a double clue.

I'm starting to believe this prediction.

We know for a fact that The Cook... is coming, it was just a matter of when. It's Exterminating Angel that's the big surprise (even though it screened on TCM a few years ago in a new transfer with a Janus logo up front).

I went back and looked at the cartoon and I've changed my mind. I now agree that it is a double clue

I still don't know. Maybe if there were a dog giving the second clue I'd be more convinced. Or if the bear were eating the sheep.

What swayed me was that the obvious Bunuel clue is self-contained in the first bubble, making the second bubble completely superfluous unless it's meant to be a separate clue

Good point, though I find most of what sheep say to be superfluous anyhow.

...and that's when Gena Rowlands countered Ray Carney...oh hello, Mr. Mulvaney.

All the girls go out in the hall please, I need to speak with the boys of this office. Boys we have a very serious problem. I've just come from the men's restroom and SOMEBODY went number <insert spine number of crapiest Criterion release> in the urinal!
