Are you trying to insinuate something about Robocop?

That blue color is gorgeous, those look great. They even make Chasing Amy look like it has iconic cinematography.

If that film is EVER released on Criterion, I shall be forced to find those responsible and tear their &*%^$!@ nuts to oblivion.

All credit is due to Sean Phillips who made the artwork that I "borrowed" to create this cover.

If you ask me, you can't improve on the artwork Criterion did for Night and the City.

I don't know, Klaylock's comes pretty close. Why hasn't Criterion hired him/her yet?

More of just playing around in Photoshop, but this is probably my "dream" Criterion release...

I like your fantasy extras - now that's dedication!

I like how the 4K restoration is planned for 2008, and the Criterion release for 2009, so they will presumably have enough time to gather all of your proposed extras--at least you are being realistic!

I've been meaning to post these for a while.

These aren't fake Criterion titles, but I think they are worth a look:

Finally, an affectionate look at my personal hero.

I enjoyed this subforum when it was an individual's honest attempt to artistically capture the essence of a film, boiled down to a cover. Now... bleh.

edit: obviously there are still some people making excellent covers on here, but filtering out all of the "jokes" is getting to be more and more tedius.

Maybe we should have a "serious" fake cover subforum and a "joke" fake cover subforum, and then maybe have each subforum further divided up by the decade of the film the cover was made for.

I know that Ambersons cover is supposed to be a joke, but someone should still be shot for having made it.

Perhaps there should be separate subforums for "honest attempts at cover art" vs. "cover art that Criterion would never, ever put out, get it, wink wink"?

EDIT: I see Matt beat me to the punch, though I think he's being facetious.

Yes. There is some beautiful artwork in this thread, and I get very excited when I see it bumped. The jokes are fine, but they should have their own thread.

I just don't know where something like "The Hottie and the Nottie" would go. It looks great and real which IMO makes it belong in the serious thread, but obviously it is a joke. Quite the dilemma.

A suggestion for new thread titles:

So, You Want to Be Hired as a Criterion Cover Artist?

vs.

Megan Fox's Midriff and Other Delights

I am at a loss that Michael Savage was somehow omitted from the proceedings.

the bad 'joke' covers are the only reason I come to this particular thread... without them this would be boring and embarrassing.
