I'd agree the review will follow him everywhere... but that has little to do with the actual opinions expressed therein. Christ, that's the kind of writing that makes avoiding that whole batch of "early scoop" fanboy sites a gut reaction.

Well, that's true, he is a pretty terrible writer. If you check his RT reviews one of his pull-quotes (I can't remember what for) was that a film was 'just plain GOOD'.
Still, the RT fanboy brigade don't care about that and will similarly rip into a dissenter even if its Jonathan Rosenbaum.

I'm finally excited for this film. I guess marketing worked on me as well? It seems to be much better than Batman Begins, with set-pieces and a villain that are already looking much better than anything in that film (and the Eckhart/Dent character even more so).

That plus seeing a big film (partially) shot in IMAX has me excited.

Just had a big box of blu-rays and hddvds arrive today, including the new 'Batman - Gotham Knight' (this has become one of the best new trends in big-budget movies. "The Animatrix" is still a favourite dvd of mine)

Haven't watched it yet, and it remains to be seen if it's any good.
(One of the directors is, unfortunately, listed as (Batman Begins co-writer) David Goyer, and the last time he got complete control over writing, directing, etc. he produced Blade Trilogy ) But I'm just about to put it in, and quite looking forward to it (no Joker, but Scarecrow apparently makes an appearance)

Many of the shorts in 'The Animatrix' were directed by great anime auteurs.

The Gotham Knight directors are all largely some animator with no directorial credits to his name.

The whole product is largely a cash-in on the past success from The Animatrix (an anime spin-off that actually made sense given the franchise it was based upon, and one that had the involvement of the film's directors) and I thought it was pretty poor.

A new Joker TV spot and a Joker scene from Swedish television. This is the first extensive footage of Ledger and he's looking like he completely owns the role.

Antoine Doinel, I have no idea how you keep finding all of this information on the film. It is awesome.

However, you are tempting me beyond belief to watch this stuff!

This movie is going to make a ridiculous amount of money. Bigger than Iron Man?

What's the current B.O. all-time champ? If people are willing to see this at 7 in the morning, this might be bigger than just the year's highest grossing film.

Titanic is still #1 all time for box-office.

Dark Knight obviously has a larger base of gung-ho fans than the studio originally anticipated, so it'll probably be a very big hit. But #1 of all time is not even remotely likely.

The most successful pre-opening advertising hype that I can remember for any movie (well, aside from something like Star Wars prequels, with an already built-in fanbase) was Independence Day. There were round-the-clock screenings in a number of cities when it opened. It did end up being a gigantic hit, but nowhere near #1 all-time. Of course, the fact that the movie itself was pretty bad might have had something to do with that, but even if Dark Knight is as good as many people are hoping, it won't have a wide enough appeal to challenge any overall box-office records.

Yeah, I'm guessing a lot of this anecdotal evidence is a front-loading on behalf of fanboys, so I imagine it will have an enormous opening weekend but then taper off quickly after that. But then again, having weekend screenings already sold out means there will be folks like me probably catching it the second weekend.

At very best, this film will do $400 million, but that's a huge long shot. And I will be astonished if it does $500 - there's just no way. And forget any film touching Titanic, ever. If Star Wars couldn't do it, then forget it. We're talking about a film that spent a year at the box office. I'd be surprised if Dark Night lasts through October...
