We live in a world where Fear and Desire is the fourth from last Kubrick film to get a 4K release because Kino Video is more prolific than Warner Bros. What a time to be alive.

I sincerely hope Kino include all three of Kubrick's early shorts this time like MOC did on the initial bluray run. considering it's already being picked up for completionist purposes, hopefully they can just include those films to sweeten the package a little more.
come on Criterion and WB, bring forth Barry Lyndon, Lolita, and Eyes Wide Shut

I'll be curious what elements they're going to use. I assume it'll probably be that 35mm print from their original Blu unless some pre-print elements have shown up.

Kino will be releasing the original 'The Italian Job' on Blu. Even though a 4K master is being used as the source, the Insider said that they won't be releasing a UHD as they don't think it will sell enough (though apparently 'Killer's Kiss' and 'Fear and Desire' will).

Man, I would assume that The Italian Job would sell just as well, if not better, than Indecent Proposal (was anyone really clamoring for this.)

Kino, the label that buys up licenses to rush out releases without doing any in house resto work to churn as much profit as possible is afraid of taking the risk of one title possibly underselling in 4k? And that title is The Italian Job. With Michael Caine.

seriously, all they need to do is see how Get Carter is getting an extremely lavish UHD across the pond to know The Italian Job would do just fine. hell, I'd buy a copy!

From a US-only market perspective I can understand how Kino is reluctant to do more than BD for the original The Italian Job. It's never been anywhere near as popular in the US as the UK. I'm sure they have access to Paramount DVD US sales numbers that influenced the decision.

This really isn't true. Kino has done quite a few original scans and clean ups of titles they have released from these various deals.

FYI, the KL Insider revealed they did not license Hud from Paramount, and that it's likely already licensed out or Paramount plans to handle it themselves. They also stated they have one of the following: Will Penny, The Brotherhood, The Assassination Bureau

The Strange Love of Martha Ivers is great news, though since the entire Imprint Noir #3 box is worthwhile, I'll be looking for alternative releases for at least two of the other titles before forcing myself into a corner of double dippage

enjoying how multiple people have already taken them to task on how this movie could possibly sell more than The Italian Job
hopefully BFI or Indicator (who is starting UHD next year!) do that one in the UK
