As the year is approaching the end, any further news about the anticipated Truffaut collection from Kino Lorber?

A great film, but Imprint’s edition is excellent

Feb 14th, 4 film box set with The Wild Child/Small Change/The Man Who Loved Women/The Green Room
and separate releases of The Bride Wore Black/Mississippi Mermaid/The Story Of Adele H
(likely from existing masters)

KLSC has announced the specs for The Bride Wore Black (release date is February 14.):
Audio Commentary by critics Julie Kirgo, Steven C. Smith, and Nick Redman
Theatrical Trailer
Reversible Art
Limited Edition O-Card Slipcase
In French with Optional English Subtitles

As much as I'd prefer optional subs, there isn't enough here to entice me to replace the Twilight Time disc.

So, no restoration of any kind :(

The Twilight Time edition came with a CD, you’re actually getting less

At least this will eventually only cost $8.99-9.99.

Carlotta recently re-released the seven United Artists productions to French cinemas and all of them (including The Bride Wore Black) were billed as "nouvelles restaurations"—but strangely the press kit doesn't give any restoration credits for the three that Kino will be releasing as standalones. The others are credited to Hiventy.

In addition to the Bernard Herrmann interview CD, the Twilight Time edition includes an English dub and an isolated music and effects track -- not the most exciting features, maybe, but the Kino definitely appears to have less to offer, subtitle issue aside.

you can tell when you watch the trailer of the French box set, that "La Sirène du Mississippi", "Adèle H." are Twilight Time transfers (with no in-grained subtitles), not new restoration at all for these two movies; whereas, indeed "La chambre verte" has been restored (without ruining the color grading, which is rare in France)

My guess, unless a good surprise, is that Kino will release the same Twilight Time transfer (which are old; just like a fair HDTV broadcast) without the in-grained French subtitles or forced.
But it's sad; "La Sirène..." and "Adèle H." are one of my favorite movies.

Pretty sure Kino had already confirmed that they would be using the same masters (without the forced subtitles)as the Twilight Time releases.

• Audio Commentary by Film Historians Julie Kirgo and Nick Redman
• Theatrical Trailer

Have they announced the specs for the four non-Twilight Time films yet? I’m curious whether those will get any special features, whether they’re new or carried over from another edition.

no, I'm hoping they saved the best for last and will give those films at least some treatment. plus they'll at least be in a boxset

how are the Redman/Kirgo/etc commentaries on these? anyone gave them a listen in the TT era?

Wow, I was literally looking at the French Blu last night since I couldn’t justify the Imprint Neo Noir box. Excellent news, this is the best of the era’s noir revival

Oh, absolutely. In a perfect world, this and not The Grifters would have gotten the solid box office and glowing reviews. It captures the tone of Jim Thompson’s work better than even Coup de Torchon and Serie Noire (which are still excellent films, don’t get me wrong)

I have the French BD of After Dark My Sweet so I'm going to wait for a sale price on the Kino BD if the 2k scan from the IP looks appreciably better. I figure they'll add at least a commentary and the archive features.

It's a really great and intelligent neo-noir, with a pitch-black heart of fatalism working in flux with/as an externalization of a deranged psyche. Hopefully this release prompts more people to check it out

The boxing sequences in it are really amazing. Probably Bruce Dern’s single best performance as well
