I think the transport vehicle may be representing a box of five films. Could there be five Wenders instead of four? We know of
Alice in the Cities, The Wrong Move, Kings of the Road, and
The American Friend. Is it possible that
Summer in the City or
The Goalkeeper's Fear of the Penalty Kick are included as well?
The lower rear car looks very much like Philip's car from
Alice in the Cities and the one behind it could be the one featured in the poster for
The American Friend.

I would have hoped that some of the cars would indicate Cronenberg's Crash...
But regarding the lines from each which leads to the center, which could suggest a car crash, or perhaps Robert Altman's "Shortcuts" (a blu upgrade ?) :-k (there's also the motorbike-chip which could be a "Shortcuts" hint)

Yes!! Ryan thinks the ocean is also Breaking the Waves!! (Hopefully the entire trilogy.... Time to start selling the OOP DVDs?)
Anyone think Criterion's going to be increasing its output of new material drastically? (What was it last year, about 3 new titles a month on average? That was fine by me.) They seem confident given that this picture has 19 clues, while last year's had 14.... and they didn't get to all of them. There's also been quite a few boxsets confirmed by that early 2012 teaser. (Three Colours was on there, I think; so one less.) .... Looking to be an unreal year!!

This is from
Kings of the Road

Top car on the back of the truck?

Those lines just seem to be lines of motion/direction. Still, wouldn't rule out
Shortcuts or
Crash.
Crash has been rumored for a while. (I don't know about the validity of any of the rumors, but it's not so outlandish.)

So, if the samurai are actually hinting towards Inagaki's Samurai Trilogy and not Three Outlaw Samurai could it be assumed that the iceberg doesn't hint towards A Night to Remember? Have Criterion ever included a clue for an already announced film?

.... So, is the French mime the elusive double-clue??

Having done a search for movies involving icebergs, this is
the best option I could find.
So most likely, that iceberg is A Night to Remember.

What about
The Savage Innocents? The final shot is of an iceberg.

The iceberg is melting if that means anything. An environmentalist documentary? The Great White Silence?

Good point. The three samurai could mean an upgrade of the Musashi Trilogy.

Could the bow mean Arabian Nights, which means Trilogy of Life?
Calvin wrote:The iceberg is melting if that means anything. An environmentalist documentary? The Great White Silence?
I believe it's melting to show it's ice. If they didn't put that there it could of been a sand hill or something.

You might have something there (NSFW. If you work on New Year's Day.)

no prob. I was just thinking of stuff I remembered being rumored and right then the Pasolini films jumped in my head.

This is reassuring, since
Arabian Nights was not on the early 2012 teaser (or wasn't legible), while
The Decameron and
The Canterbury Tales were.

The mime and I don't think anyone has brought up the seagulls yet either.

Did we ever figure out the 3 oysters with pearls yet? Something with 3 must be a trilogy?

All of the generic cars represent
Traffic, right? Ryan assigned all of them a letter, but they can't all mean something different. Other than that, the only one that seems uncertain is the ocean.... but I'm unwilling to accept that it's anything but
Breaking the Waves.
*The French mime is likely
Blow-Up.
*The oysters are the Quatsi trilogy, right? (Quahog - Sounds like Quatsi??)

Something weird (and most likely not a clue), for some reason the mime looks like he is wearing one of those hats from Fishing with John. Prob not, but the drawing looks that way.

Just checked: Quahogs can produce pearls, so I'm sticking with the Quatsi Trilogy.
Two seagulls and breaking waves....

That all sounds really far-fetched, especially the oysters. The cars are probably referring to Weekend. No reason to believe Warner has licensed
Blow-up and that mime does not look like the ones in the film. Ryan is just guessing like the rest of us.
