I think Filmstruck users are the ones feeling ashamed right now

Rickylee wrote:I recently joined Filmstruck, prior to that, although I'm ashamed to admit it, I was using Hulu, for they had access to The Criterion Collection. One day, I noticed my watchlist went from 135 films to 16, I found out, their 5 year contract with Criterion had ended, I quit immediately. I did some research, and found Filmstruck, which so far, I'm really enjoying. I often get this message DRM error content, not allowing me to watch the film, even to films recently added?. Does anyone know about this DRM message, it seems to be related to a time limit on certain films, yet i have no way of reaching anyone at Filmstruck. Any ideas ?
Welcome, we all liked Hulu nothing to be ashamed about. You can try their help and support and they'll respond within a day. I had the same problem and this is the solution:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/docum ... ger08.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Once there, please select "Reset License Files", refresh the FilmStruck page, and try streaming the movie again

I am sorry to throw in a basic technical question at this point. I signed up with Filmstruck, and expected that I would be able to see it on my AppleTV. However, AppleTV does not have a Filmstruck option. Do I have to do something to get it there? Does only the most recent version of AppleTV have it?
Help in sorting this out will be truly appreciated.

I got an email last week that they added it to Apple TV. I don't have that setup but I thought it would just be an app you install from the app store.

Yes, Filmstruck is only available on the latest version (4th generation) of Apple TV, and it's an app you have to download from the App Store there. Though if you have an older Apple TV and another Apple device with AirPlay, you could stream from that device to the Apple TV.

Thanks movielocke! This fixed my frustration with getting the "time expired" message when attempting to watch the Tsangari shorts.
Also, guys, I
love FilmStruck. Minor quibbles aside (as noted, a useless "Recently Added" category and sorting), there is such an overwhelming amount of good being delivered on this service, and at outstanding value. This is a dream.

Do any of the titles that came with surround tracks on their respective Blu-rays and DVDs come with surround tracks if you're watching it with a surround system?

I kind of hoped for a quality upgrade here, but not more than 2 of the films are even anamorphic widescreen. These look just like the old DVDs. I suppose I can't really expect any more than that, but it is a shame all the same. I guess I had my hopes up that Criterion was holding on to some high quality collection of Chahine films.

Watched belle de jour, quality issues seem to have been worked out on streaming playback, now if the site could just consistently remember where you left off in a title. A tool for a five second rewind would be nice as well, sometimes I miss a subtitle and awkwardly clicking the timeline to approximate a mini rewind is pretty irritating.

I asked, and they replied:
Thank you for reaching out to us here on FilmStruck, my name is José and I will be happy to assist you.
To answer your question all our films are encoded on a film by film basis we take the highest quality available and encode the film to that same one. If it was on the DVD or Blu-Ray that same quality should be on the film streamed.
movielocke wrote:...now if the site could just consistently remember where you left off in a title.
Shouldn't have to do it, but I note the time I left off at whenever I take a break. The site should show you the movie you are currently watching anyway.

That Chikamatsu is back is a good sign for the other missing Hulu exclusive titles.

JustWatch has its hands full juggling so many providers while adding more, and there are many inaccuracies in search results. The Criterion Channel is not listed separately. JustWatch doesn't work properly with my IE browser, so I use Chrome.
Today [11-17-2016], 1,051 FilmStruck titles are sorted by popularity, and 8 titles are shown as 'New'.
1,119 now.

Both FilmStruck and the Criterion Channel now appear to be displaying films properly in the "Recently Added" section -- that is, they display things in order of addition to the site, starting with the newest, instead of defaulting to the most recently produced film, etc.

As was reported in this thread, they were working fine, just the popular titles page listed the newly arrived titles and the vice versa.

Most of these Fuller transfers look really great. Verboten!, Underworld U.S.A., and my beloved The Crimson Kimono look sharp and gorgeous. Park Row looks OK. Run of the Arrow looks hi-def, not amazingly sharp, but more than good given the film's previous rarity.
It looks like The Big Red One is only the theatrical cut, which is too bad. But all in all these are great additions.

I saw her today at the reception
A glass of wine in her hand
I knew she was gonna meet her connection
At her feet was a footloose man
