Hasn't there been a consistent annual box since 2017 with Bergman? Bergman, Olympics, Fellini, Varda, WKW, Pasolini, the CC40 box, and then Wes? Am I missing one?
I think this is accurate

2006 Essential Art House: 50 years of Janus Films
2009 AK100
2016 Zatoichi
2017 Olympics
2018 Bergman
2019 Godzilla
2020 Fellini
Varda
2021 WKW
2022
2023 Pasolini
2024 CC40
2025 Wes

And of course it was in television that Leigh really refined and perfected his approach across a pretty big chunk of his career (1971-88).

That said, the BBC iPlayer currently has a gorgeous 4K UHD restoration of Nuts in May, which may or may not be a harbinger of something.

(Although a 4K of Abigail’s Party would be pointless; it was entirely shot on standard definition PAL videotape.)
I have frequently wondered why there hasn't been a Mike Leigh at the BBC box set after the success of the Alan Clarke set.

Jazz ‘34 is tragically out of reach, too. I’m curious about the status of television works like Rattlesnake in a Cooler and The Laundromat, though. Are the Harold Pinter adaptations Disney via ABC?

The two you mention are available either on backchannels or up on YouTube. The only post-60s thing he did that’s completely non-circulating is Precious Blood. I’ve finished Altman’s filmography and, based in his other TV work, would not be too stressed about not having any of these.

Oh, I know. I am a big fan of The Laundromat in particular, and I think Carol Burnett and Amy Madigan are excellent in it.

Jazz ‘34 is quite beautiful and really didn’t deserve to be buried after receiving a VHS release

Fassbinder, but that would possibly necessitate 2 or 3 volumes

Maybe Wim Wenders
Kiarostami comes to mind but they probably wouldn't have done the Eclipse if they had plans for a full career set

It was pulled from the channel recently, so I wouldn't be surprised if a disc is in the works.

I bought it last year, too (stupid region 2 flipper disc) so that has to increase the odds, right?

I've thrown this together only because Frau Blucher prodded, with relatively little consideration because I've been preoccupied elsewhere. The Film Forum presentation of Forest a few months ago is far enough behind that it's the most likely, IMO. I do feel Secret Agent is imminent.

Days and Nights in the Forest
The Crying Game
The Secret Agent
Girl Shy
The Great McGinty/State of the Union/The Last Hurrah, or some other election-themed film, given it's a political year

No strong feelings about upgrades.

That actually would be a great box set, day one for me, unfortunately I think The Candidate would be more likely.

I’d love to get the Stephen Frears-directed Barrytown films, but The Commitments is still Disney

Speaking of Frears, I’m so disappointed that Sammy and Rosie Get Laid has never even had a DVD release

Gore Vidal’s ‘The Best Man’, 1964, would make a great election year movie. It has also never been released on blu ray.
