I was wondering about all those Fox titles from their "Studio Classics" line. This is terrific.

Some of them, unfortunately, already been released by Twilight Time. I'm glad Kino Lorber now has access to Fox catalogue and can speed up the releases.

MisterLime also just stated the Fox titles they have range from the "1920s to 1990s". And his answer to the idea that they could release titles that have gone OOP from Twilight Time was a plain "No".

The Brat! (the only one of his surviving sound films that's completely MIA)

When they say "20s to the 90s," I have to think it's probably just one, maybe two, titles from the 20s.

I dunno, Kino's probably the most silent-friendly label in R1 other than Flicker Alley.

Even one or two '20s films and a few more from the '30s would be better than what Twilight Time has offered up in the way of pre-1940s films: one title in five years (Drums Along the Mohawk, 1939).

I'd like to see What Price Glory?(1926) to be one of the 20s Titles.

I'm ambivalent toward the news. I love Kino for their recent effort in recording new commentary tracks, and hate them (and Olive) for not including any subtitles.

Haven't they included subtitles whenever a previous DVD release had them?

The Taking of Pelham One Two Three is being re-released on Blu-ray and DVD July 5th, only this release is packed with new special features than the barebones MGM Blu.

When did Kino turn into Criterion, releasing movies already out on Blu-ray?

Reading the Blu-ray forum's suggestions for what Kino should license from Fox is soul-crushing. Why license Can-Can or Dragonwyck when you can put out the Banger Sisters instead?

Well, they were, certainly. Their business model, like Criterion's, has evolved. The selection they've put out under the Studio Classics line does not fill me with confidence, but I hope to be proven wrong.

Do MGM or CBS own any silent films at all? Those are the licensors that have been included in their Studio Classics line, and I don't think they own any silent films.

Didn't say the selection was hard evidence of their moving away from silent film, it just that overall it's not the most highbrow. Hope my feeling is wrong.

Mister Lime said Kino tried to get Little Murders and were told a flat no, though he's not sure if it's with another label or if there was a legal problem with the release (hence the long OOP DVD)
