One of my favorite films. I never bought the Eureka blu though I often came close, thrilled to see a (hopefully) better version show up

it's insane how long they've had the rights to this movie, but it's good they've waited for a new restoration. hopefully this leads to more of Kurosawa's films getting releases (especially with Tokyo Sonata OOP from MoC)

No doubt the cover for the bluray. I wouldn't be surprised if this was also released on UHD. Trailer looks great.

I would say there’s plenty of doubt because they often don’t use their posters for blu-Ray artwork at all.

Criterion really can't lose if they just use the theatrical poster for the cover art
But they will probably just take their wacky C and blow it up to be the only thing on the cover while the trademark top left small C will have U R E vertically lined beneath it.

have to assume this will get it's own release and won't be buried in a WCF box judging from the fanfare it's getting, no?

Janus is partnering with the Lincoln Center for a 6-Film Kinuyo Tanaka series, as well as a Márta Mészáros series (though they don't specify which or how many of her films are going to be shown).

The wording on the Lincoln Center site suggests that they will be at least showing the the "Diary" cycle. If that is correct, it would be wonderful news if Janus/Criterion picked up the rights for them.

A good short overview of Kinuyo Tanaka’s acting and directing career, and the recent restoration and re-release of the six films she directed, in
Hollywood Reporter.

Maybe this has its own thread somewhere else but I think
INLAND EMPIRE is a pretty big deal.

Page is up for Márta Mészáros' 'Riddance'. It hasn't been added to the Márta Mészáros series but I assume it will be updated soon.

Hopefully that means we can look forward to Criterion putting out
Inland Empire this fall. If memory serves all of the previous Lynch films with the exception of one (
Blue Velvet maybe?) have been released in October or November.

Janus just
tweeted some images from Abbas Kiarostami's The Colors. Hopefully these shorts will show up in a box set or at least on the Channel soon.
