So with The Kid finally getting announced, is there still a chance that Criterion will announce a Chaplin at First National Collection?

I was actually hoping The Kid would have been the cornerstone of a First National box set.

Really excited about the Troell films and Death by Hanging is my favorite Oshima film and have been patiently waiting for more Oshima. The Graduate and The Kid I have seen several times but still eager to nab them. I don't know too much about I Knew Her Well. Awesome month! 2016 is shaping up to be a great one!

I'd bet we still get a First National set, but sold as "The Chaplin Revue" with the other shorts as bonus features. I think the MK2 disc was set up in the same manner. Besides the addition of introductions, does anyone know if Chaplin did any substantial edits in making the Revue?

If they follow the silent-sound pattern then King of New York should be next, though that would leave 3 straight silent releases to finish the lot. Unless Women of Paris is again paired with King (or Countess from Hong Kong rears her ugly head).

Any likely 5 or 6 words long title from a director with a shorter first name than last name?

I see it as a two word title followed by "A Film By _____ _____" with the first word being about half as long as the second. For example, something along the lines of "The Decalogue" "A Film By Krzysztof Kieslowski"

I don't think we're going to be able to get a clearer shot of what that text says. But in the context of the image, it could just be an alternate design for 4 Months...

Maybe it's simply Code Unknown.

It looks like just a Code Unknown alternative cover, since it is right by a bunch of other CU cover mock-ups.

I think you're right. Especially with the image on the far left of the Code Unknown covers using a similar style.

As far as I can see, the Wim Wenders Retrospective Poster is a liiiittle bit different. The word 'road' is under the mountains in this one.

Another confirmation for those with any remaining skepticism.....
Just spoke with Bruce Goldstein of Rialto/Film Forum in NYC. Asked him if the Chimes at Midnight screening in a couple of months is different than what screened last year. He said it is, "a newer restoration." I asked him if he had seen it yet. He said no, "but it's coming from Janus/Criterion, so it should be good."
Hopefully, we'll see a blu ray in the first half of 2016.

That's great news! Also, I love that CC is putting out seminal '60's /'70's Hollywood fare like The Graduate- would love to see Cutter's Way in the collection...is this available on Blu ray anywhere? Thanks!

Twilight Time has Cutter's Way. Hopefully they'll release it next year.

I just read that Facets had released A Page Of Madness on VHS. If Criterion is rescuing Facets titles, I hope this one gets bumped up to the top. There was a rumor that the BFI was going to release it but had a problem with the rights & so it never has received a decent dvd release. It seems to have received much more attention in past year or so, as the last time I had checked it on IMDB a few years ago it had less than 100 ratings & now it's over 1,000. Perhaps there's a new restoration recently available, as TCM has aired it a few times in the past 2 years.

Not sure where else to post this, but hopefully this might be the best place to do it.

Criterion. Everyone loves them. They release a ton of great films, but not exactly at the quickest pace. About 6 years ago, I discovered that Criterion had the rights to Hunter in the Dark. One of the greatest films I have ever seen staring Tatsuya Nakadai and Sonny Chiba in his best performance.

Soon after that I discovered that Criterion has the rights to Bandits Vs Samurai Squadron, Death Shadows, Heat Wave, Tracked, and The Oil Hell Murders. While it's great that these are on Hulu, these films deserve the proper physical releases.

For YEARS I've tried communicating with Criterion to no avail. Not sure if they don't see these films as money makers or what, but they are more amazing that you can imagine. At the rate things are going, I'll die, or the physical format will die before Criterion will release these films.

I'm in a desperate situation and would like any help I can get. These are the two e-mails I can find that might actually work. [email protected] and/or [email protected]

Look up these movies and see for yourself why they deserve to be released. Hunter in the Dark is without a doubt a film making achievement and I would love to hear what Tatsuya Nakadai has to say about them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Via e-mailing Criterion or other suggestions at reaching out to Criterion. I hope someone can help and hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
