That's why he was teamed with Professor Toru Tanaka. The two were more interesting and better as a team then they were as singles. They held the tag title several different times for long periods of time, and managed by The Grand Wizard.

Yep, loved his character's obsession with the Lincoln assassination in Homicide, and that opening scene with his speech in Miller's Crossing is just great

This might be the right time to mention that J.E. Freeman (Eddie Dane in Miller's Crossing) died back in August 2014 - I did a quick search and this doesn't seem to have been mentioned in this thread.

I'll always remember: "Shut uuuuuuuuuuuuup! (whack)....Kids. Ya gotta be firm."

He was great in the Coens but for some reason I most associate him with The Rocketeer.

I had thought he died awhile ago, I guess I just read that he was sick though.

Being a Seinfeld enthusiast, i'll remember him fondly as Silvio the landlord in "The Reverse Peephole". Jerry was such a fancy boy with that fur coat.

Pembleton standing on those front steps in his dress blues is one of the greatest moments in the history of that show.

I think that's the idea - I feel sorry for Eddie Dane as well, who after all is very loyal to Johnny (and Mink). Gabriel Byrne does a great job of showing the conflicted feelings Tom has about the events he's set in motion, and I think this partially explains (or motivates) his behaviour towards Bernie and Leo at the end. I love pretty much everything about Miller's Crossing, but what I love most is how the performances add so many layers and shades of grey that don't strictly need to be there. That's what makes it so rewarding to re-visit.
