Why is Marge's outline so smooth?domino harvey wrote:

There's no mention of Blu-ray release though?

My first exposure to the show was well past it's good spot. I'm fairly certain there's a reason I have always greatly preferred Futurama.swo17 wrote:The Simpsons' current writing staff wrote:Eff...ort?
I know better than to recommend that you catch up on the 2nd through 8th season........Big Ben wrote:My first exposure to the show was well past it's good spot. The show really went off a cliff after season 8 (save for the season 9 premiere in NYC). I can't remember where I stopped, but I haven't watched any new episodes in well over a decade. I actually like Season 1 too, the show's roots in mining the struggles of a working class family (à la Roseanne) were never clearer or stronger than that first season.mfunk9786 wrote:I know better than to recommend that you catch up on the 2nd through 8th season........
Ha - that might be my vote for most overrated Simpsons episode ever, and certainly low on my list among Season 9. But you're right, that's absolutely where the quality dip is.hearthesilence wrote:The show really went off a cliff after season 8 (save for the season 9 premiere in NYC).mfunk9786 wrote:I know better than to recommend that you catch up on the 2nd through 8th season........
The older Simpsons episodes included on previous Simpsons sets were in the correct aspect ratio, so I'm hopeful that this Season 18 set will have a couple of the older episodes on it too, probably Fat Tony themed ones to go with the planned packaging theme. I'll try to keep this post updated with what comes to light!mfunk9786 wrote:Oh god, so would I (provided they were in their original 1.33:1). Though I shudder to think how much they'd artificially brighten and smooth everything.
I still believe that there's customers out there, especially for The Simpsons, who would go out and buy these in physical form. Many of us don't want to held a the whims of FX or our local satellite or cable provider to enjoy this show. It was until recently that the FX app allowed my satellite provider, Dish Network, with full access to their content. I also would like to hear commentary and see extras on these episodes. I know that it isn't their golden age, but the show is usually more enjoyable than anything put by the major networks.mfunk9786 wrote:Considering they're going to sell maybe 500 copies of these unreleased seasons, I'm not sure anyone should be holding their breath about myriad formats. All of the episodes are airing nonstop on FX, and they're all streaming on FXNOW - if you for some reason wanted to see a Season 18 episode, DVD isn't the only way to do so anymore and hasn't been for a while. That's surely going to negatively impact an already uphill battle to move copies.
Man, I don't think it's one of the great episodes, but I thought it was pretty solid when I first saw it. I can see how it's overrated - I learned to appreciate it more after moving to NYC, and I'm sure the locals have probably championed it for esoteric reasons.mfunk9786 wrote:Ha - that might be my vote for most overrated Simpsons episode ever, and certainly low on my list among Season 9.
