It’s with Kino (who distro Cohen but it’s not part of the Cohen) but it’s also OOP. Considering it hasn’t sold out in the year-plus it’s been heavily discounted, I doubt any other label releases it unless it’s part of a larger set

I think I had heard previously that their logo appeared on Songs From The Second Floor, but hadn't heard about the other two. Been hoping for releases of his films for a while.

Bill Hunt posted on social media confirming Eyes Wide Shut has been licensed by Criterion.

It'll be an interesting film to revisit. I only ever saw a censored VHS tape I had to smuggle into my house as a teenager binging Kubrick for the first time. Given how odious certain discussions around the film are now it'll be nice to hopefully have some scholarly material around the film that isn't crackpot conspiracy nuts claiming the film is some key to unlocking a vast conspiracy.

Robert Kolker and Nathan Ambrams’ book on it is phenomenal. Immensely detailed, excellent interviews with scores of “below the line” personnel on the production, and exemplary critical analysis. I’d kill to have them do a commentary

A Frederic Raphael interview would be a hoot, but I doubt he’d agree to it

I'd forgotten about that, but I think there is enough evidence that he is right about Eyes Wide Shut.

I personally think Hunt just goes for a lot of obvious guesses, some pan out but he's definitely gotten a few wrong. that said I definitely think he's right in this case, the Kubrick estate overall seem very on board with Criterion and their efforts, especially given nearly every title except the biggest WB ones have come to the label. I do remain surprised they've never upgraded Spartacus after all these years, surely Universal would have no problem with that

Spartacus has been upgraded on Blu-ray by Universal, then again through a new restoration and finally on UHD. I think Universal simply decided to do this one themselves.

The Criterion Saul Bass cover for Spartacus is still the best. You can’t find an original silk screen version of that poster anywhere. I know. I’ve looked since I collect original Saul Bass posters.

TBF, things often change pretty dramatically. It seems pretty clear at some point that Criterion had both Sixteen Candles and Ferris Bueller - there was a shot at Criterion HQ where a grade of Sixteen Candles was visible on a monitor, and I John Kapelos talked about Criterion reaching out to him regarding his deleted scene in FB - so it's certainly possible they had Amadeus for awhile and WB decided to go its own way.

Dawn of the Discs on Twitter (talk about a source that I have no idea about the authenticity of... take this with a huge salt lick) is also reporting that Lolita will be coming from Criterion.

The Lolita restoration that is(has?) playing(played) the Venice Film Festival is credited to Criterion. Bill Hunt mentioned it in the same post as Eyes Wide Shut and I didn't mention it because the Venice news was already posted.

If only it was an HDR 4K for the better version of the film!

But will the individual titles come first or the Kubrick box?

Well we may know early next week as a Kubrick box would certainly garner an early announcement announcement

No, but there was a rumor a couple years back that they had licensed it and The Blade.

Kid'n Play revealed in this interview (at the 9:15 mark) that Criterion will be releasing House Party on 4K in November.
