And it was already teased a while back in the handwritten note, but this deal is probably where more Suzuki will likely come from too!
Charisma would be a dream come true.

among other things, an updated Bluray of Ichikawa's The Burmese Harp and upgrade for Alone Across the Pacific (both OOP MOC titles) would be a dream come true for me. very thrilled to see a Nikkatsu deal come through...now we just need Shochiku and Kadokawa to license to Radiance and we'll be rolling in Japanese classics

if Fran wants to mine the Nikkatsu Noir and Kurehara eclipse sets for BD releases he has my money

Those look like two terrific box sets. It's good to hear that World Noir will be an ongoing series; my fingers are crossed that Hasse Ekman makes an appearance (there could probably be a volume dedicated to him alone) and it'd be great to see Tapiovaara's Stolen Death and Drach's On n'enterre pas le dimanche in there too.

Nikkatsu's catalog has a lot more of interest to me than Toei's, so that deal is a great development. I'd actually be interested in a set of actual good roman porno films (namely Somai's Love Hotel) and also a Shiota double bill of Moonlight Whispers and Harmful Insect.

Let’s hope Radiance have got their mitts on those Argentinian noirs released in the USA by Flicker Alley.

Well as I've pointed out previously, 'ICH' was one of the clues on Fran's cheat sheet (along with other abbreviations presumably for other directors; 'BUN' for Buñuel, 'SUZ' for Suzuki, 'SHIN' for Shinoda etc), so maybe we'll be lucky to get some Ichikawa upgrades. Most of his work was with Daiei so would require a Kadokawa deal, and many others were Toho, but the MoC DVD titles like Alone Across the Pacific and Kokoro were from Nikkatsu (along with The Burmese Harp). Maybe they'll consider a box set of those three, assuming the masters are solid? Then again, I think Fran's mission statement is to generally unearth new titles, and many will own the MoC releases already (though I'd happily upgrade, as would you).

Yes please! Assuming of course Indicator, Eureka, Arrow or BFI didn't beat them to it. Clearly noir is a lucrative genre as every boutique label seems to be getting in on it (at least the key ones).

+1 vote for Alone Across the Pacific, Kokoro, The Burmese Harp

+1 vote for World Noir -- yes, those Argentinian films sound interesting. And there is probably many suitable French titles. Would Duvivier´s Voici les temps des assassins fit in? Or Grangier´s Le rouge est mis? Or Le salaire du péché starring Danielle Darrieux and Jeanne Moreau?
Also, novels by best-selling French author Frédéric Dard have often been filmed in France. I haven´t seen any of the films, but read two or three of his novels; they read a bit like Cornell Woolrich or Levin´s A Kiss Before Dying.

Some Dard titles that sound interesting on ImdB:
Le monte-charge (1962),starringL Robert Hossein and Léa Massari; a Christmas Night mystery with a Woolrichian twist, if the film follows the novel
L´Accident (1963), by Edmond T. Gréville, starring Magali Noel
Les bras de la nuit (1961), starring Danielle Darrieux
Les scélérats (1960), starring Robert Hossein and Michèle Morgan as a dysfunctional American couple in France; the novel is a bit like a Simenon "roman dur" (hardboiled psychological drama)
Toi...le venin (1958) starring Hossein, Marina Vlady, Odile Versois
Le dos au mur (1958), Molinaro; starring Jeanne Moreau
Les salauds vont en enfer (1955) starring Marina Vlady and Serge Reggiani

I'm in for the Noir set especially as it seems that one of the titles is the French noir they teased via S&S earlier in the year. Thrilled to hear that they plan several volumes.

There's existing poster art for War of the Worlds: Next Century that uses this image. Also, the title of the boxset would seem to give away one of the other two titles: O-Bi, O-Ba: The End of Civilization

The inclusion of Argentinian titles could actually happen as I notice Fran talked in detail about this announcement on Facebook, and when researching the subject over the past few years (this has been brewing for a while), he noted there's far less writing available on the subject of South American noir, so I wonder if he's considering these so he can cover these areas a bit (assuming nobody else is also considering them...Indicator specifically might be, as their Mexican horror has been doing very well, and their American noir has also).

Apparently the sets will cover periods between the 1930s and the 1970s, from all over the world, so that's exciting. Will hopefully be some other Asian titles, not limited to Japan or Hong Kong (though more of those will be welcome of course).

Yes, like I said, original artwork! And I think it's all but confirmed that the three titles will be The War of the Worlds: Next Century, O-Bi, O-Ba: The End of Civilization, and Ga-Ga: Glory to the Heroes, but I do wonder if they'll get Golem at a later date (unless Eureka have been sniffing around, of course).

Also, Daniel Bird is involved with this set which is very good news as he always delivers with these sorts of things.

Sorry, I read "original" to mean that Radiance came up with something original of their own, but that's probably not the primary meaning of that word. And yes, MichaelB has indicated in the dedicated thread that the set will include those three titles. It sounds like someone else has Golem and Eureka isn't a bad guess

Maybe Eureka, since they're doing the Zulawski set with Daniel Bird and Michael Brooke involved in that - but it could equally be with Second Run since both have worked with them before too (and it's a title on its own, and last year they did a Wajda set so might want to start doing more Polish titles again). We'll have to wait and see! Either way it's in good hands and will be an essential release.

I don't know if this is the proper place to post this. I pre-ordered the Cosa Nostra set. I'm in Canada and looking at the cost through the suggested retailer Rough Cuts Canada, the price was over 101 Canadian dollars (part of that is the taxes of course). Ordering directly from Radiance with the current currency exchange it came out to 79 Canadian dollars. The choice was easy!

Yup, I found it was much better to order directly from Radiance (even with the high shipping rates). Even for individual titles it's still better to buy directly. The total cost for Messiah of Evil is $67 CAD on Rough Cuts and $75 on Amazon(!), whereas you can get it for $45 from the official website.

I should add I added a couple of Sterling Pounds to get tracked shipping, so the total could have been slightly lower even.

Was looking forward to getting some items in their recent flash sale but even with the discount, the shipping price (to Austria, at least) still puts the total at a few pounds over what the same items would cost at Amazon UK!

I think Mafioso is with Studio Canal so the chances of that one are slim to none but there have been a few other Lattuada films restored in recent years that would be nice to see - Il mulino del Po, I dolci inganni, Guendalina, La spiaggia...I think there were a few others as well.
