"Toni" is region 0. So it's not like you have to worry about region code.

As long as you can play PAL...

Well, my copy of Toni arrived (from a marketplace seller).

Will there be any further announcements or is the rest going to be repressed? If the former, mind naming another title before it's sold out on Amazon again? (or is it too early to tell anything and I should just sit back for the time being?)

It's taking a while because we're wrestling the Oct and Nov titles down to the floor. There are undoubtedly going to be more OOPs, and more surprise upgrades.

Do you mean (by "surprise upgrades") that catalog titles may get upgraded to dual-format editions even if they haven't been released on Blu-Ray yet?

Obviously yes, which is nice.

I got most likely the very last copy of "Toni" in the Amazon warehouse, shipping soon. As for what else will go out of print? Don't even wanna think about it... but as for upgrades? The Mizoguchis would be a dream, but doubt it as the DVD box reissue were only released months ago. The Kaneto films perhaps? Japanese films would be my guess... (and wish)

Well Criterion is releasing Kuroneko so that one has at least a HD transfer available. Kwaidan would be another obvious choise if there is a transfer lurking somewhere.
Personaly I would love a release of Nosferatu or Tabu on blu.

House, Eyes Without a Face and Le Silence de la Mer have been released on Blu elsewhere so they're probably in the running as well as Kuroneko. I, obviously, don't know what has an HD transfer but Nosferatu definitely doesn't and I assume that the MoC Kurosawa's don't either since they were the only two Kurosawas not to be given a Blu-Ray release in Japan (I think...?). Shoeshine might as some of De Sica's other works have been given BD releases

I don't know what I mixed it up with but you're right - MoC never released Eyes Without a Face, my apologies. :-"

The Pialats are coming on blu soon from Gaumont and it'd be nice to think the Antonionis are in the running too.

Kino recently put out a collection of Buster Keaton shorts on Blu-Ray as well.

We're aiming to finish the new MoC print catalogue for Sept 25th and that will have all the latest information. When we do the next big announcement (week commencing October 3rd) we'll put the new catalogue up on the website as a pdf and it will have all the latest OOP information and all the latest Dual Format information post-Sony DADC fire. THE BALLAD OF NARAYAMA and A MAN VANISHES will be the first releases to contain the new print catalogue.

Is there any reason to expect either the Buster Keaton set or the Ernst Lubitsch set to go out of print? I'd hate to miss out on those two.

As Mizoguchis are apparently going OOP, are there plans for DVD/BD-combos or are they gone for good?

I doubt it, but the Mizos are now in a boxed set rather than 4 x 2 discs, I think.

I can't say anything further about any titles until: "When we do the next big announcement (week commencing October 3rd) we'll put the new catalogue up on the website as a pdf and it will have all the latest OOP information and all the latest Dual Format information post-Sony DADC fire."
