Ah, damn- I saw that Ulmer was showing up on the director listing, but I couldn't track down the release.

There are three other people showing up as zero entries on the director page- Robert Rossen, Robert Aldrich, and Rafaello Matarazzo. I think Rossen's been showing up for a while, but are the other two new?

Nope, looks like that one's Alexander the Great.

Hmm, that movie shares a cinematographer with Bicycle Thieves (Carlo Montuori), and it's not showing up on his Explore page. I'm not having any luck with this one, so far.

If that's the June lineup, turns out it's pretty great. Three mediocre films and three amazing films. Kiss Me Deadly, People on Sunday, and Zazie have been among my most anticipated titles for a loooong time. Truth be told, I'll probably get Black Moon and Insignificance too.

Plus Rossen's Alexander the Great and Raffaello Matarazzo Eclipse set, I guess. Never seen any of these.

Is it possible that they are releasing seven mainlines and an Eclipse set in one month!?

If everything we've got so far is correct, it's strange that they've been pushing Black Moon so hard lately- it's not even their best Malle of the month, much less their biggest release overall.

The Believer just included a dvd of People on Sunday with its 2011 March/April film issue.

I'd guess that's exactly why they are pushing it

Rossen has been there for a while. They were probably going to release it a little while back but it got held up, so it's as likely as not to be released.

Looks like it will be a Mattarazzo set. Here's three titles: Chains, Nobody's Children and The White Angel.

Also, it looks like all the bandwidth they're saving with Swo not being able to repeatedly refresh the main page on announcement day is going to be lost with everyone checking every director and actor page the night before now.

Alexander the Great, really? Does anyone actually like that film (I haven't seen it myself)?

I haven't seen Alexander the Great so did a little IMDB research (dangerous ground already I know), and most of the reviews seemed pretty to rate it as pretty average. Godard quoted it in Film Socialisme, so he may know something they don't, or... he could of just randomly grabbed a shot relevant to his piece...

It is fairly run of the mill and honestly only works for genre buffs or in the auteurist sense. I can't imagine it being worth anything except to the most die hard Rossen fans.

Wow, SEVEN new line releases + an Eclipse + who knows how many upgrades?

I thought Criterion would need to increase their output given the amount of films they had gained the rights to, but to think that we could be looking at 10(!) new releases this month is unreal. Is this a sign of things to come?

Ryan @ CriterionCast tweets that this is what he's working on right now. Clearly a collage of tomorrow's covers, as you can see Black Moon on the far right. Can't tell if any of these are Eclipse. If not, that means we are likely getting Black Moon, Zazie dans le Métro, The Makioka Sisters, Insignificance, Kiss Me Deadly, and People on Sunday in addition to the Matarazzo Eclipse. I'd agree that Alexander the Great is probably still in a holding pattern.

Can you identify anything other than Black Moon?

This will get lost amid the announcement speculation, but the Troell guess one page back reminded me that I heard recently from a reliable source that Criterion acquired Troell's exquisite Here's Your Life (1966), which screened at Telluride last year.

If they do in fact have The New Land and The Emigrants as well, I wonder how those will get parcelled out. Eclipse box, or would those demand special features?
