I wonder if it will be part of the StudioCanal Collection. Amazon UK lists
Le Quai Des Brumes as SCC release and
Planete-HD reports Soldier Blue and Cross of Iron will be (re)released as part of the Collection.

Why isn't Grand Illusion Region A compatible? Does anybody know? They obviously have the rights to make it so. Sure, Le Cercle Rouge is also Region B only, but that's probably because the Criterion release is still in-print.

I suspect that Lionsgate has asked StudioCanal to lock it to help prevent Region A customers from importing the European release.

Got an email from Amazon Uk about replacement discs for "Dracula: Prince Of Darkness". I don't know if they will ship the replacements outside the UK, but I still sent my information anyway.

"Carlos Saura's Flamenco Trilogy" will be out in the UK on April 23rd, on DVD only, and individually.

Might pick that up. Who owns the UK rights to Cria Cuervos?

I guess the recently released UK Blu-ray of Malena features the usual, butchered cut and not the Original Italian Version?

Yup, just the 92 minute International cut, with non-removable English subtitles, extras being the same as the UK DVD, the making of featurette and trailer.

More importantly, does this mean we'll be seeing the two Hammer titles on Blu-ray here in the US of A in the months to come?

A Blu-ray.com member posted German
Blu-ray schedule for July and August. Quite nice selection, includes Wenders, Bunuel, Preminger, Schlöndorff, Aronofsky and others.

La grande illusion and
To Be or Not to Be look great. Shame, it looks like the Lubitsch isn't coming to the UK. I guess the UK rights are owned by someone else.

My copy of La Grande Illusion came today. I haven't had any time to watch the disc yet but the blurb on the back describes Renoir as a "cult filmmaker"...cult? Really?

It also has the details of the available audio tracks and subtitle tracks mixed up on the back.

While the
Le Quai Des Brumes DVD is still on track for June 4th, it looks like the Blu-Ray has been delayed until September 3rd. Here's the DVD cover art, which will presumably be similar to the Blu-Ray:
Maybe it will be a part of the Studio Canal Collection? (There's an updated trailer for that
here)

BFI has uploaded
a trailer for the restored Le quai des brumes. Looks great even with youtube's compression, can't wait to see the Blu-ray.

Behind the scenes stills gallery
Restoration comparison
Trailer
PASSPORT TO PIMLICO restoration was completed at Pinewood. After rigorous assessment the best material for restoration was the fine-grain inter-positive. *It was scanned at 2k and we have spent over 40 Hours cleaning it up. We were keen to ensure the general look of the film did not stray too far from original release, particularly with reference to the day for night scenes.

Such a pity it's not on Blu, especially when the Italian one does look decent apart from the stretching.

Studio Canal Collection Blu-rays for The Trial and That Obscure Object Of Desire have been scheduled for 3rd September!

Great news about The Trial. That's a film that has suffered from lots of low quality public domain releases.
Also, it looks like the Mulholland Drive Studio Canal blu-ray is back in stock in UK as well. Been unavailable for a while & I've seen it going for silly prices on ebay, but now Play and HMV listing it as available again.

FILMING THE TRIAL was "finished" and presented by the Munich Filmmuseum (via Oja Kodar) so the rights belong to them/her, I believe. It's possible that the footage could be licensed to Studio Canal, but when it comes to Welles...?
