Thanks. I checked Carlotta's US site and it said nothing. But the French site says coming to Bluray in November 2015 from a 2K restoration! I hope this release stays on track and delivers the goods.

The information about the US release came from Carlotta's Twitter post. It says both France and the US at the end of 2015. They probably just haven't updated their US website yet.

Out 1 IS coming from Carlotta in both France and the US. However, the other films (+book), not forthcoming.

French label Carlotta Films and Carlotta Films U.S. will screen a new 2K restoration of Jacques Rivette's Out 1 (1971), starring Michèle Moretti, Hermine Karagheuz, Karen Puig, Jean-Pierre Léaud, and Michael Lonsdale. The new 2K restoration will also be released on Blu-ray in France and the U.S. in Q4.

Amazon shows it listing for $129.95.

Do we know for a fact that this will include Spectre? The Carlotta press release indicates it will be included but Amazon lists the running time as 729 minutes which would only be enough time for Noli me tangere. Hope that's an error...

Frankly why bother when the Arrow is region free, cheaper, and comes with more films?

Your point is readily apparent. But judging by discounts on available Carlotta US titles, the Carlotta could probably be had for 40% off or more with a coupon code at an etailer like DVD Planet, making it moderately cheaper. And it won't be a limited edition.

It will include Spectre, it has been confirmed by Carlotta.

On a per film basis though? The additional three films are the most notable difference.

Indeed - as fantastic as OUT 1 is, I... will not watch it as often as Duelle and Noroit.

I've been following the forum for updates on the Carlotta release, but as it hasn't been mentioned here's the details as listed for the French version. It includes the same 'Mysteries of Paris' documentary that's on the Arrow release, plus additional exclusive extras, and a book. The book is bilingual, and both versions of the film and it looks like all extras are with English subs. It seems we should expect the US release to include the same material. Plus the much better cover and artwork and lower price and I think I'll take this over the Arrow collection.

After double points, the Arrow release is essentially £60 right now, which equates to about $92. You'll have to wait for the Carlotta release to be at least 30% off to pay less than that for it. And that's assuming you assign no value to the three other films exclusive to the Arrow set.

Don't the points Arrow offers only go towards future Arrow purchases?. As there's not much in the Arrow catalogue I'm interested in they're moot to me. If I go for the sale today of £75 that would still be about $20 CAD more than the 80 euro for the French Carlotta. For just that much more the Arrow set is the better value, but with a few hours to make up my mind if I can't find it at much less than £150 after today the savings of the Carlotta is significant. I would like all the films in the Arrow set... but I wouldn't mind putting the others off as it's Out 1 that's the great film and what I've been waiting for.

Yes but if you're going to use them eventually this is irrelevant. In any case, this is why I used the word "essentially."

Duelle and Noroit are both "great" -- each in its own way.

I didn't have specific expectations. I just found the Arrow cover suprising, and don't get it. A cover centred around an original poster or film stills like the Carlotta is usually fairer than what might suggest a bit of a reimagining of the filmmaker.

Also - though there may not be much in the catalogue if you're not a fan of the more exploitation-y stuff, by buying this you're encouraging them to put out more big box sets of obscure foreign art house films that have been never released properly in English. And when the day comes more exciting stuff is announced then you'll be able to use your points to save a solid £15 off it.
