Adapted from a novel by Leif Persson and starring Sven Wollter (The 13th Warrior), Widerberg’s film channels the style of his earlier crime masterpiece but presents a new world. Oh wow, a welcome surprise! This is a great Swedish film. It's stood in the shadow of (the perhaps slightly sharper) Man on the Roof, but many days I prefer the procedural focus and gestures towards national political history in Majorca over Widerberg's canonical crime classic. I do hope fans of Man on the Roof make sure to catch this one.

I saw this on Netflix shortly after seeing The Man on the Roof and actually preferred it, and really hoped Fran would pick it up for Radiance. Thought we might be waiting a while as people had asked him and were told they didn't have plans for it, so it was a very welcome surprise for me in particular! Day one, a great procedural that I'd watch again and again.
