Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Irresponsible Conjecture
I was under the impression that Django was rumored a while back although I'm not sure if it's for the US market seeing as Blue Underground already has a Blu-Ray out that's really good. For the UK though? Sure. I'll end up buying it regardless of where it's released though if it's a better release.

The Blue Underground Django looks terrible as the master is one of those LVR noise filled messes. And In the last few years BU has been letting their licenses expire on titles they don't feel are worth reupping and Arrow (Torso, Deep Red, Cat o'Nine Tails) and other labels have been picking them.

Yes! Early De-Palma. As I said earlier, Hi, Mom! probably has the best De-Palma set piece in its second half

Amazing news. Hi, Mom! Is clearly the prize but I’m excited about Greetings, it’s predecessor, and Wedding Party which I’ve never seen and which, by the sounds of it, will have the strongest restoration.
Great that Arrow focus on non commercial, experimental early work from great directors. From Hooper’s Eggshells & Heisters, to Cronenberg’s shorts with Stereo & Crimes of the Future.
All essential stuff.

Is it safe to say, yet, that Arrow has a distribution deal with Sony? Because they seem to have at least one title in the works.

I suppose that now that Sony's catalogue has been "unlocked" a few years ago, there's no reasons for Arrow not to try and licence some titles from there.

Wow odd announcements. Serpent's Egg is Region A/B and Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice is region locked. Surprised it is not the opposite since Criterion (I thought) has the former and, for the latter, Sony doesn't usually seem to care about region locking even for TT titles.
Very interesting. Criterion must only have Serpent's Egg for the box. Not sure what's going on with the other one.

So Arrow now has a deal with Sony. Wonder if they'll do a fourth Woody Allen box now?

I am under the impression that Indicator is doing an Allen box.

Based on what? I'd welcome a box of Sony Allens from either label, but I wasn't aware of anything more than hope driving predictions

I’d be curious to know what that’s based on too.

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Irresponsible Conjecture
Last I heard Powerhouse hadn't planned anything, but I guess they could've grabbed the Allen films from Sony since then. I assume that'd be Husbands and Wives, Manhattan Murder Mystery and Sweet and Lowdown, by the way.
That said, a fourth Allen set from Arrow to go with the other three would be equally as good to see. Obviously neither could add any disc extras, so it'd just be a booklet (most likely box set exclusive).
Be interesting to see which Sony titles Arrow, Eureka and Signal One/Plan B managed to get that Indicator didn't already.

Sweet and Lowdown isn't with Sony in the UK, only the other two. It's one of the titles that Kaleidoscope released a few years ago on DVD-only because 'the films are too old to be in HD'. I'm not sure if they'd be able to sub-licence them but I'd love an Arrow box of Bullets Over Broadway, Celebrity, Sweet and Lowdown, Small Time Crooks, Mighty Aphrodite, Everyone Says I Love You and Deconstructing Harry. Plus the two Sony titles (if they'd be allowed to mix them) that would make 10 titles, enough for two further volumes.

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Irresponsible Conjecture
A while back, someone asked them on Facebook if they were releasing Husbands and Wives or Manhattan Murder Mystery, and they responded with a smiley face icon. I'm not sure how else to take that answer, nor can I see Indicator releasing individual releases without extras.

Oh man, I forgot all about that response from Kaleidoscope! Worth noting that right now the only Woody Allen-directed features without a Blu-ray release somewhere in the world are Deconstructing Harry, Don't Drink the Water (1994), Sweet and Lowdown, and What's Up, Tiger Lily? (and the Amazon series, if you count that as a movie)

Who owns What's Up, Tiger Lily? I would have thought MGM (via Orion via AIP) but then it would have presumably been included in one of the previous Allen collections.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but Climax is heading to Blu-ray in January under the Video label.
Edit: whoops, it has. Might as well leave it in this thread, though.

God, what a load of old tosh! How about releasing a genuinely good Kevin Reynolds film Arrow? The Beast (1988) is sorely under-rated, as is Fandango (but it's with Warners, so !!!).

Re: Arrow Announcements, Speculation & Irresponsible Conjecture
This appears an especially poor month but it’s been a phenomenal year with some major stuff still to come (Candyman, Deadbeat at Dawn, City of the Living Dead, de Niro & de Palma) - so I can’t complain.
