A ton of these Signal One releases are dirt cheap at base.com right nowRibs wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 4:47 pmHere is a list helpfully compiled from the Blu-ray forums of the UK labels' Fox-licensed titles. Earlier this month the BFI said it's Fox-licensed titles will fall OOP as they come up for renewal, and that The Innocents will be the first of these, and it's reasonable assume that will follow with the rest of the labels:

If only they shipped to Australia! Just one more reason I don't like the current government.

It's also quite odd they don't ship to Italy either, while shipping to nearly all other EU countries...
Edit: does anyone know of an alternative to base.com to get Signal One releases relatively cheap?

Re: The OOP Heads-Up Thread
rarewaves.com has them all for not quite as good of a deal but still reasonable prices. It's worth noting that almost all of these titles are already unavailable from Amazon so I'd pounce if there's anything you want

Re: The OOP Heads-Up Thread
I would, once again, posit that it's perfectly possible that Signal One or any of the labels above are still able to make more printings of titles that sell out - just that their contracts will eventually expire and they'll disappear at that point. So movies that are within the usual 3-year window of recency are probably relatively safe in the short-term. Signal One still has several coming out in the Fall, as well! I wouldn't be surprised if one or two more pop up from MoC as well, seems perfectly possible

Re: The OOP Heads-Up Thread
After looking at base.com's prices, I feel like I'm being ripped off at rarewaves even though they're much closer to regular prices. That's a horrible search engine they've got, though.
Thanks swo.

base.com: ridiculously low prices on Fox titles plus stupidly inflated shipping costs--it's like the Twilight Time sale all over again!

Which makes me want to ask about rarewaves' really low shipping costs. Do they throw them in a dog's mouth and get it to swim to your country unsupervised, or are they absorbing the costs a bit. Whenever I see cheap international postage costs these days, I fully expect things to arrive in a paper bag a month or more later.

100% true. Although somehow I've never gotten a damaged item from them. It's a complete mystery to me.domino harvey wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 4:10 pmRarewaves absolutely ships their shit across the ocean in an unpadded gray plastic bag. Avoid

Re: The OOP Heads-Up Thread
Thanks for the warning, guys. I really wish that the Amazon-monster hadn't consumed all the good UK competition, and thanks to the Australian government's tax law changes, even they won't ship here. Maybe Signal One's recent sign's of possible life will be fruitful, and they'll start selling things again. Who knows.

I’ll believe that when they ask me for a fully mixed copy of the commentary!swo17 wrote:Yeah, like Nightmare Alley
(A mere formality - they paid me for it nearly two years ago - but I can’t do it until they send me the uncompressed feature soundtrack.)

I was joking that that was one of the only titles that I saw Amazon had listed as coming up this year

Re: The OOP Heads-Up Thread
I'm not sure this means L.A. Confidential is OOP, but it is being sold thru the Amazon Marketplace. One thing that confuses me that maybe someone can address. How did Fox end up with this? It was produced by Regency and Warner Bros.

Re: The OOP Heads-Up Thread
In the late 90s (98 or 99 i believe) Regency entered a deal with Fox for distribution of most new titles. I'm guessing distribution rights expired for Warner at some point and they simply went to Fox. Fox also distributed Heat on Blu-ray, though references to Warner Bros. are still there. Once Upon a Time in America as well.

My 2009 copy of Heat has just Warner branding. The 2017 DIrector's Definitive Edition's Fox but references Warner in the credits as cdnchris said. The 2015 Once Upon a Time in America: Extended Director's Cut's Fox, 2011 version's Warner.cdnchris wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 9:47 pmIn the late 90s (98 or 99 i believe) Regency entered a deal with Fox for distribution of most new titles. Re: The OOP Heads-Up Thread
Same here. Had I known it was a bag, I probably would have avoided them, but everything was fine, so I kept on ordering and hoped that their return policy would be honored. Still do - they're such a cheap and easy way of getting UK stuff - and they're still batting 1.000. It probably helps that the standard plastic BD cases are pretty sturdy themselves - I haven't had to replace any of them.Glowingwabbit wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 4:12 pm100% true. Do they still use the plastic bag even if you place a larger order for multiple items, or do you earn a box at that point?

Re: The OOP Heads-Up Thread
I ordered a boxset and three standard size blu-rays and still got them in a bag, if that's considered a large order. The boxset had bumped/crushed corners, but nothing extreme.

Now OOP from Eureka: Fellini Satyricon, Youth of the Beast... and Boomerang! and Two for the Road. Get those Fox orders in while you can!

I know it’s been said countless times before in this very thread, but this whole situation is just infuriating. We’re losing entire swaths of film history.
