Now, seeing as it states, "presented in Cannes Film Festival 2005," I assume that this will be the 95-minute version and not the 60-minute version shown on American TV.

However, a new SE from Criterion is on the cards, yes?

The extras appear to be the same as the French CE that came out last year, which does contain the full 95-minute version of Shadowing The Third Man. Good news for UK punters, though.

I've not heard anything further on the rumoured Criterion reissue for a while now. There was a whisper on some message board or other a couple of months ago that it would contain a new commentary track. I sense another triple-dip in the offing.

In fact Odd Man Out is due to be released by the UK label Network later this month. Some of Network's recent releases that I have ordered (Seance On a Wet Afternoon and The Dead) have been nice, so Odd Man Out should be in good hands.

There will be a two disc set release in Germany by the label ARTHAUS too.
It will be a nice digipack.

Well, it seems that new 2-disc SE of this film are appearing all over the place, so Criterion really ought to get in there, too.

I really hope Criterion goes for the short version of Shadowing the Third Man. Just imagine an outdoor session with the film played against a moving wall, no seats or icecream, reels missing and a projectionist on acid, and you will not even come close to how awful it is to sit through the pretentious rubbish put on show here. A great disservice to all those involved in the original production.

That's certainly a vivid description, but what exactly makes it such a bad documentary? In terms of style, I mean.
